Senior Project Manager - Data Centres

We are growing our Mission Critical Building Services team and are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver complex, multidisciplinary Data Centre projects across Australia.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale data centre projects, working closely with clients, consultants and contractors to ensure excellence across the full project lifecycle.
Main Activities and Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of building services projects across the full lifecycle, including feasibility, design, procurement, construction, and close-out, ensuring alignment with client objectives and WSP standards.
- Act as the primary client interface, building trusted relationships, understanding client needs, and ensuring delivery of high-quality, commercially successful outcomes.
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire, sustainability, structures and digital engineering disciplines), ensuring effective collaboration and integration of design solutions.
- Oversee project governance, including scope definition, programme management, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and performance reporting.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to defined quality and safety standards, proactively identifying and mitigating risks and resolving complex issues.
- Lead design management and technical coordination, ensuring building services solutions are compliant, efficient, and aligned with broader architectural and structural design.
- Drive construction phase activities, including contractor coordination, design clarifications, RFIs, and site-based issue resolution to achieve seamless project delivery.
- Manage commercial and contractual aspects of projects, including fee proposals, variations, invoicing, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
- Foster a strong health, safety, and sustainability culture, ensuring adherence to WSP policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and development to project managers, engineers, and junior staff, supporting capability growth within the team.
- Support business development and work winning, including client engagement, preparation of proposals, and identification of new opportunities within the building services sector.
- Prepare and deliver project reporting and stakeholder communications, including executive briefings, progress updates, and governance documentation.
About You
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification.
Experience, Skills and Organisational Knowledge
- 10+ years’ experience in project management within the built environment or engineering consultancy sector.
- Delivered projects of a minimum of $10M budget
- Demonstrated leadership and management capability, with strong business acumen and recognition as a senior practitioner in the field.
- Proven track record delivering multidisciplinary building services projects across the full project lifecycle, consistently meeting quality, time, and budget objectives.
- Worked on projects where you have acted as the lead consultant
- Extensive experience working with public and private sector clients, with a strong understanding of relevant governance and delivery frameworks.
- Strong expertise in project governance, risk management, and safety in design, including establishing and maintaining robust control processes.
- Experience managing complex commercial and financial aspects, including large-scale project budgets, forecasting, change management, and interpretation of financial performance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, including managing diverse professional disciplines and subcontractors.
- Proven capability in document control, compliance systems, and project reporting, producing high-quality, complex technical and commercial documentation.
- Experience contributing to business strategy and supporting its delivery, including client engagement and relationship development.
- Established professional presence with a strong industry profile and trusted client relationships.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, build trust, and lead teams effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Highly organised, results-driven, and aligned with company values, demonstrating professionalism, emotional intelligence, and sound judgement.
