SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER

JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring products and processes consistently meet defined customer, regulatory, and business requirements.

The role provides technical leadership in quality, driving supplier performance, risk‑based decision making, and continuous improvement, while supporting the effective operation of BOFA’s Business Management System (BMS).

This role acts as a key interface between Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and external suppliers, ensuring quality risks are understood, controlled, and reduced.

Role Responsibilities

• Ensure products meet defined specifications and performance requirements.
• Support production and customers by resolving quality issues (NCRs, CAPA).
• Lead structured problem-solving activities (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
• Monitor and improve process capability, stability, and measurement systems.
• Manage nonconforming product and support concession decisions.
• Interface with suppliers to drive quality performance and corrective actions.
• Analyse quality data (PPM, failure trends, warranty) to identify systemic issues.
• Conduct internal and process audits to verify compliance with the BMS.
• Support development and improvement of the Business Management System.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce waste, rework, and nonconformance.

Minimum Qualifications
• Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Knowledge of QMS and process control principles (ISO 9001 desirable).
• Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis methods (8D, 5 Whys).
• Ability to analyse data and identify trends (Excel required).
• Understanding of inspection, measurement, and testing systems.
• Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office applications.
• Strong cross functional communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with electrical/electronic/PCBA products.
• Auditor experience.
• Degree or apprenticeship in engineering or related discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Ability to challenge constructively and escalate risk.
• High attention to detail and proactive, results driven approach.
• Ability to influence across functions and with suppliers.
• Continuous improvement and systems thinking mindset.
