Senior Regional Security Manager

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As Senior Regional Security Manager, you will work to keep MKS people and assets safe from a diverse set of security risks. The role will be hybrid or remote to meet the needs of the business. This role will be part of the Global Security team, primarily within the APAC region, reporting directly to the Chief Security Officer.

You will oversee and implement security strategies and operations within a designated geographical region. This role requires a strong understanding of security protocols, risk assessment methodology, and emergency response procedures. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading risk-based security teams and managing complex security challenges.

This role will champion, work directly on, and support the business with all Global Security programs, sub-programs, and functions. These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Core Security Requirements – Security risk assessments, incident and crisis management support, and threat management.
  • Site Security – Physical/electronic security guards, procedures, and procedures.
  • Human Factors in Security – Workplace violence, high-risk terminations, investigations, industrial action, insider threat.
  • Geospatial Security – Travel risk management, executive protection planning and coordination, and event security.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Seeking to continually improve Global Security programs and processes aligned with function capacity and resource constraints by seeking innovative ways to develop effective working methods.
  • Own, lead, and implement Core Global Security Programs by adapting them to Regional and Country needs and engaging with Divisional, Functional and Country leaders and other key stakeholders to ensure buy-in.
  • Assist the CSO in recruiting, hiring, and training security personnel.
  • Have and maintain advanced subject matter expertise in security management, technology, and trends in the industry and region.
  • Provide expert security advice and perspective to senior managers and other stakeholders such that security issues are thoroughly evaluated, innovative approaches developed, and optimal solutions implemented; and develop and implement policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for protecting people, facilities, and business.
  • Support, guidance, and training to Site Security Managers ("SSM") and on-site Security Guards to ensure they comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet corporate standards and customer needs.
  • Develop and guide Site Senior Leaders to measure the effectiveness of physical security at MKS sites and collaborate with other managers, leaders, and stakeholders to assess security risks, security services, and systems, provide innovative solutions, and develop improvement roadmaps.
  • Develop and manage threats to MKS by leading cross-functional efforts in dimensioning and mitigating significant security, cultural, and legal risks with Regional and Country level impact by working with stakeholders and peers in other functions and through the business, and mentor case leaders assigned workplace violence, theft, and other security-based investigations as required.
  • Manage all travel security requirements for national and international travels, including pre-travel compliance process, training, and support during travel. This will include responses to emergencies and incidents.
  • Assist the business with incident and crisis management matters as required, both functionally within the Global Security capacity across all core Global Security sub-functions and with the incident/crisis management framework.
  • Develop and manage applicable budgets with the CSO.
  • Monitor expenses, ensure cost-effective security solutions, and report financial risks and opportunities to the CSO.
  • Produce reports for the Global Security function as required.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 30% of Travel is required.

Skills You Bring:

  • Able to work with limited day-to-day direct supervision while under a clear framework of requirements.
  • Self-motivated to remain proactive in the work ethic by seeking ways to serve the business.
  • Able to manage a diverse workload, mainly in the tactical application of work with various stakeholders in the business.
  • Prioritizing and executing work according to criticality and necessity to the business.
  • Degree or equivalent education, preferably in criminal justice, business, or security management, or a risk-based background with commensurate experience.
  • A combination of 10 years of law enforcement experience and military, business security experience, or, instead, law enforcement/business security or risk-based function experience.
  • Good knowledge and experience with site physical and electronic security, including installation, management of CCTV, access control, and intruder alarms. This includes the management of integrators/installer vendors.
  • Experience managing security guards and vendors to ensure quality service.
  • Background in peer training on the subject of security in line with the Global Security programs.
  • Background in various investigations, incident response, workplace violence readiness and response, physical security controls, threat assessment, report writing, and security auditing.
  • Case and workload management.
  • Investigation Management – Planning, strategy, and client delivery- presentation.
  • Experience in travel risk management, including travel processes and procedures. Best practices and response to emergencies.
  • Experience in the crisis management model as a security function and assisting with other functions as a subject matter expert.
  • Report writing/briefing capability is both written and oral.

Preferred Skills:

  • Able to demonstrate return on security investment to the business.
  • Knowledge of digital evidence-gathering
  • Knowledge of rules of evidence and appreciation of international rules of evidence.

Supervisory Scope:

  • Reporting Relationships: The role will report directly to the Chief Security Officer. However, as necessary, we will have a service-based set of reporting lines for various parts of the business.
  • Financial Responsibilities: The CSO will manage the budget for security matters. However, applicable budget elements may be decentralized to you as defined as necessary. You will be responsible for recommending products and solutions to the business. This will not be a direct financial responsibility; however, it will require you to ensure the most appropriate solution based on operational necessity and budget constraints.
