Stanley Consultants is looking for a Senior Resident Project Representative with construction engineering experience for our Chicago, IL office.

This position will serve as a Resident Engineer on large Municipal, IDOT, ISTHA and federal aid funded projects. A licensed Professional Engineer is required. This person will lead a team in performing daily on-site inspection and contract administration for the owner. This person will work independently with minimal direct oversight and have business development responsibilities with the mindset of growing the construction group.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Monitor contractor’s performance for workmanship, schedule, and contract requirements.
  • Manage project staff who perform daily oversight of the contractor and construction documentation.
  • Prepare reports, run progress meetings with the contractor and owner, and manage the shop drawing review process.
  • Monitor internal project budgets.
  • Ensure staff compliance with the Group Safety manual.
  • Resolve contractor questions and drawing clarifications.
  • Maintain project records that are complete and organized per client policy.
  • Maintain active and positive client relationships and communications.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues and concerns promptly from the owner, contractor, residents, public officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as a project’s technical expert with the responsibility to make decisions that affect the outcome of a project.
  • Mentor and train lower-level engineers and technicians.
  • Lead or assist Business Development Manager or others with marketing, interviews, proposal preparation, and securing future construction management work.
  • Identify new business opportunities, clients, and potential services for future growth.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction engineering is preferred.
  • PE license is required.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and/or construction management projects.
  • Experience as a Resident Engineer on IDOT/ISTHA/CDOT projects.
  • IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification and IDOT Erosion Control Fundamentals and Inspection Modules.
  • Excellent visualization, communication, and documentation skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to multitask effectively and work independently, while collaborating with other team members and managers.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proven ability to distribute learned knowledge to Resident Project Representatives, Construction Observers, and Material Testing Technicians.
  • Aptitude to act as a positive representative of Stanley Consultants, Inc. core values and an active participant in an outside professional organization.
  • Experience leading other staff.
  • Knowledge of field surveying.
  • Proficient in Construction Materials Management System (CMMS), CDOT CMQA, and Trimble Unity Construct.
