This role provides Line 2 risk oversight across the AUSPAC Transformation and Modernisation Programs, with a focus on strengthening risk culture, enhancing program governance, and ensuring clear visibility of key risks across a significant, multi-year transformation portfolio.
The role partners closely with senior transformation leaders to provide independent challenge and influence decision-making, supporting the effective identification, assessment, and management of risk throughout program delivery. It is also responsible for delivering clear and insightful reporting to executive stakeholders and the Board.
The position contributes to embedding disciplined risk practices and improving how risk is governed and managed across large-scale change initiatives.

The opportunity

We’re looking for a strategic and influential manager to provide 2nd line risk oversight to the AUSPAC Transformation & Modernisation Program. You’ll help uplift risk culture, strengthen program governance, and ensure QBE has clear visibility of key risks across one of the most significant transformation agendas in the business. You’ll partner with senior transformation leaders, challenge and influence decisionmaking, and deliver insightful reporting to executives and the Board. Your new role

In this role, you will:

  • Provide 2nd line oversight and challenge across the AUSPAC Divisional Transformation portfolio and the Modernisation Program.

  • Advise senior leaders on risk and control matters, influencing decisionmaking and uplift of risk culture.

  • Develop meaningful indicators, dashboards and reporting to enhance transformation risk visibility.

  • Explore and embed the use of AI to support project risk management for both the Line 1 and Line 2 risk teams.

  • Assess and challenge the effectiveness of governance, controls and risk processes across agile and waterfall delivery.

  • Contribute to deep dives, integrated assurance activities and highquality 2nd line reporting to executives and the Board.

  • Build strong relationships, support capability uplift, and rolemodel QBE’s DNA values through constructive challenge and engagement.

About you

  • Proven experience managing risk within large‑scale transformation or complex change

  • Deep understanding of enterprise risk frameworks and the 3‑lines‑of‑defence model

  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills

  • Strong analytical judgement and problem‑solving capability

  • Ability to coach, build capability and uplift risk culture across diverse stakeholder groups

  • Practical experience applying risk and control practices across both agile and waterfall delivery environments
