Job Description\:

This role involves developing mission-critical software for the frontline Eurofighter Typhoon, working on advanced aircraft systems throughout the full product lifecycle, from design and development through to integration and deployment. You will collaborate closely with systems and test engineers to deliver high-performance, reliable software for complex defence applications where quality and accuracy are essential.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, accountable, and results-focused, with the ability to work independently while adapting to changing business and customer requirements. A flexible approach, willingness to share knowledge, and openness to new technologies and ways of working are key to succeeding in this fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

Core duties\:

  • Design, develop, and test software solutions for safety-critical aerospace systems, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Produce and implement software requirements and technical designs, supporting the full software development lifecycle.
  • Conduct functional testing and support system integration, verification, and validation activities, including software-to-hardware integration.
  • Adhere to established project processes, quality standards, and software development best practices.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation to support development, testing, and certification activities.
  • Participate in peer reviews, configuration management, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure software quality and compliance.
  • Monitor and report progress accurately, providing regular updates and technical feedback to project teams and leadership.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, and test engineers to deliver robust and reliable solutions for complex aerospace applications.

Essential Skills\:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong software engineering background with proficiency in at least one of the following languages\: C, C++, C#, or Ada.
  • Practical experience developing embedded software, ideally within complex or safety-critical environments.
  • Good understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from requirements capture and design through to implementation, testing, and integration.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative, and adapt to changing priorities and evolving requirements.
