About the Team & Opportunity
The Infrastructure team handles platform engineering at Clever. For example, it builds and evolves the internal developer platform that engineering teams use to build, deploy, operate, and monitor Clever’s products. This is a unique opportunity for an engineer with a platform-engineering mindset to build for an audience of fellow engineers, shaping the tools that power the future of K-12 education.
As a member of the Infrastructure team, you’ll create self-service “golden paths” and shared tooling that help teams ship and iterate quickly and safely, while meeting reliability, security, and compliance expectations. You will partner with engineering teams to understand friction points, close gaps in automation and workflows, and continuously improve the developer experience and operational effectiveness across the organization.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- The problem you’ll solve: You will architect the "golden paths" that allow Clever engineers to deploy scalable, well-architected applications across multiple regions, removing the burden of manual infrastructure management.
- Who you’ll partner with: You will collaborate across the engineering organization to identify workflow gaps, partnering with product squads to ensure our platform meets their evolving needs for monitoring, logging, and performance.
- What success looks like: Success is making key contributions to deliver a reliable (99.97+% uptime for critical services), high-performing platform where internal teams can deploy services with confidence, supported by a robust, cost-effective logging and monitoring ecosystem.
- Key projects you’ll lead: You will serve as the technical lead for projects relating to Clever’s global datacenter rollout, datacenter migration to Kubernetes for compute on AWS EKS, multi-region resiliency and fast failover tooling, and setting standards for AWS account management and security best practices.

- Technical Leadership: Experience leading medium-to-large-scale technical projects and mentoring other engineers through complex transitions.
- Cloud Architecture Mastery: Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider (AWS preferred; GCP/Azure considered)
- Software & Platform Engineering: Proficiency in a programming language such as Python, Java, Typescript, or Go and experience building CI/CD pipelines and developer-facing internal tools.
- Kubernetes: Experience with Kubernetes is required, as it is central to our platform strategy.
- Cultural Stewardship: A commitment to understand and prioritize the Clever engineering culture (see our blog post on Defining Clever's Engineering Culture).
- Product Mindset: A strong design and product sense for building internal tools, combined with deep empathy for the developer experience.
- Continuous Learning: The desire and ability to learn quickly to support the wide and ever-changing range of technologies in use at Clever, from Go and TypeScript to specialized AWS services.
