Senior Solution Engineer

The Senior Solutions Engineer is the technical anchor of the Solutions Engineering team, combining deep hands-on expertise with a leadership mandate. You provide mentorship and guidance to Solutions Engineers, help standardize solution delivery practices, and serve as the decision-making authority for technical matters when the Engineering Manager is unavailable. You operate with a high degree of autonomy while remaining aligned with engineering leadership on strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Guidance & Mentorship: Coach and support Solutions Engineers on complex customer engagements, technical approaches, and professional development
  • Delegated Decision-Making: Exercise independent judgment on technical decisions, customer escalations, and prioritization in the absence of the Engineering Manager, within agreed scope and boundaries
  • Solution Architecture: Lead and review solution designs for high-complexity or high-impact customer engagements, setting the technical bar for the team
  • Standards & Playbooks: Define and maintain solution engineering standards, reusable templates, and best practice documentation for the broader team
  • Escalation Handling: Act as the primary escalation point for Solutions Engineers facing technical blockers or ambiguous customer requirements
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Represent the Solutions Engineering team in cross-functional discussions with Product, Customer Success, and Field CTO/SMEs when the Engineering Manager is unavailable
  • Quality Review: Review and approve solution proposals, PoC outcomes, and technical specifications produced by Solutions Engineers
  • Onboarding: Lead the technical onboarding of new Solutions Engineers, ensuring ramp-up on tools, processes, and customer environments
  • Feedback Loop: Consolidate field insights from the team and surface patterns, gaps, and improvement opportunities to the Engineering Manager and Product

Required Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of solution engineering, systems engineering, or technical consulting experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Experience with enterprise customer environments
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with enterprise architecture and design patterns
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies
  • Track record of successful customer implementations
