Responsibilities

The Senior Statutory Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely preparation of statutory financial reporting in compliance with NAIC and state regulatory requirements. This role exists to support the integrity of financial results through detailed analysis, reconciliation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Actuarial. It also plays a key role in improving and automating statutory processes to enhance efficiency and reduce risk. The position ensures regulatory filings and financial statements are completed accurately, on time, and in alignment with internal and external expectations.

What You'll Do:

  • Re-engineer existing Statutory processes to streamline and improve process flows.
  • Work with Actuarial on quarterly loss development.
  • Prepare internal quarterly Schedule P and annual NAIC Schedule P and notes.
  • Prepare quarterly reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Develop and implement allocation methodologies within financial systems to eliminate manual calculations.
  • Preparation of certain state/jurisdiction premium tax returns, and surcharge/assessment filings, including ensuring timely filing and payment of the same.
  • Completion of assigned schedules for management/regulators/auditors
  • Perform detailed analysis as required for fluctuations in quarterly results.
  • Participate in the quarterly generation of Statutory Financial Statements.
  • Help with Ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years accounting experience, in the P&C Insurance Industry, with a strong knowledge of coverages.
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office Excel and accounting software.
  • Experience with process re-engineering, including assessment of current processes and creativeness in the design and implementation of new processes.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Ability to work independently and manage short and long-term projects.
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Technical skills in SQL and VBA are a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Oracle Fusion General Ledger is a plus.

Salary Range

$63,000-$120,000.

In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the above range represents a good-faith estimate. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, credentials, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.

This role may be based out of any of the Northeast office locations, including:

Parsippany, NJ; Conshohocken, PA; Wilkes‑Barre, PA

Travel: Up to 10%, based on business need.

The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required.
