Senior System Engineer (Windows) - Implementation Focus

Client introduction

Our client is a long-established professional services and business solutions group in Singapore. With more than 30 years in the market, they serve a broad client base across accounting, tax, advisory, payroll, corporate services and technology consulting. The firm holds recognised security and data accreditations (including ISO 27001 and a national Cyber Trust mark), so infrastructure standards and security posture sit at the centre of how they operate. They are now investing in IT capability and are looking for a hands-on engineer to lead build and implementation work rather than keep-the-lights-on support.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead the design, build and implementation of Windows-based infrastructure from the ground up, including full tear-down and rebuild of existing environments where required.
  • Stand up and configure Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP and related core services as part of new builds and migrations.
  • Plan and execute server and infrastructure migrations, consolidations and refreshes, including cutover planning and rollback.
  • Build and configure virtualisation and storage layers (for example VMware or Hyper-V) as part of greenfield and rebuild projects.
  • Implement and harden systems to meet the firm's security and compliance standards, including patching strategy, access controls and baseline configurations.
  • Automate build, configuration and deployment tasks using scripting (for example PowerShell) to make environments repeatable and consistent.
  • Produce build documentation, runbooks and as-built records, and hand over stabilised environments to support teams.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and vendors to scope requirements and deliver implementation projects on time.

Job requirements

  • Around 6 or more years of hands-on systems engineering experience, with a clear track record of implementation and build work (not primarily maintenance or service-desk).
  • Strong Windows Server engineering depth: Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificate services and related infrastructure.
  • Backgrounds in systems integration, IT consulting or managed services are well-suited to this role, given the breadth of hands-on implementation exposure these environments provide.
  • Demonstrable experience building environments from scratch and / or rebuilding existing ones, with examples you can talk through in detail.
  • Solid virtualisation experience (VMware and / or Hyper-V) and a working understanding of storage and networking fundamentals.
  • Scripting and automation capability, ideally PowerShell, for repeatable deployments.
  • Comfortable owning the engineering side of a project end to end, from design through to cutover and documentation.
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365 / Azure and to security hardening or compliance-driven environments is an advantage.

Why you should join them

  • A genuine build mandate. This is an implementation-led role where the work is designing and standing up infrastructure, not maintaining a static estate.
  • Real project ownership, with the autonomy to make engineering decisions rather than follow a runbook written by someone else.
  • A stable, well-established firm with strong security and compliance accreditations, so good engineering practice is valued rather than cut.
  • Broad technology exposure across a multi-service business, with room to grow into infrastructure leadership.
