Senior Systems Engineer
Job Responsibilities:
• Design and delivery of Microsoft‐based servers, security methodologies, network resource sharing, networking protocols, network access methods, security devices / appliances and the installation, configuration and support of LAN‐based applications within a hosted or cloud computing environment
• Server Maintenance for Physical and Virtual – to include Monthly Patching and Backup Verifications: Dell Servers, Hyper‐V 2008/2012, VMWare 5/6, AWS, Veeam Backups, Nagios Monitoring
• Server 2008 – 2012 Support, Linux Support, Active Directory Management, DNS Management, DHCP Management, WSUS Management, DFS Management, File Share Management, Sophos A/V Management, Symantec A/V Management, Office 365 Management, Laptop Build/Support, A/V Equipment setup and support
• Application Support: MS Windows 7, MAC OS X, Microsoft Office – all versions and OS, Zoom (Video Conferencing)
• Lend support to various business and technology teams as necessary during design, development and delivery to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions
• Be able to clearly communicate complex technical designs and solutions in clear, concise and easily readable format by both technical and non‐technical personnel
• Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e. day‐to‐day discussions, team meetings) and written (requirements and design specifications) form, as well as have an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications
• Accurately determine, assign, track and manage project tasks, activity, documentation, and time information
• Accurately assess the risks associated with each solution design / project
• Support the development of team members from a professional and technical level
• May occasionally require travel when necessary
• Perform additional job‐related duties as requested
Minimum Qualifications:
• Thorough working knowledge of server‐based systems (i.e. hardware, operating system, software, virtualization technology/strategies, etc.) and networking devices (i.e. switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, etc.) design and delivery processes, methodologies and their direct implementation to solid, robust solutions
• Strong knowledge with Windows automation scripting tools, such as Powershell and MSDeploy
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with Microsoft‐based operating systems, services, applications, SQL Server databases, environments and architectures
• Windows server operating systems and applications, also Linux server operating systems is preferred
• Experience in developing and executing a server / network implementation plan that includes alerting, monitoring and response features using Nagios
• Experience in Internet‐based technology, services and strategies (i.e. web servers, IIS 7.0+, DNS, firewalls)
• Strong decision making and problem solving skills and experience with systems / network projects.
• Excellent English communications skills
• Ability to work in a very fast‐paced, team‐oriented environment
• Position requires availability during off hours for emergencies and deployments
• Demonstrated leadership and attention to detail skills through prior experience at the tactical / implementation levels
• Experience with AWS Services (i.e. EC2, S3, ELB, CloudFormation, etc) and AWS’s Command Line Toolkit
Preferred Qualifications:
• Microsoft (MCSE) Certifications, AND
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, AND
• At least 7 (seven) years of experience in network technologies, AND 2
• At least 7 (seven) years of experience in Microsoft systems / applications, OR
• Relevant combination of education, certifications and experience.
• Experience with cloud computing, specifically AMS
• Preferred: Red Hat certifications and / or experience with Unix operating systems and related technologies / applications, scripting / application coding in support of systems setup and configuration
