What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a skilled Senior Tag Management/MarTech Engineer to join our team for a 12 month contract. The primary focus of this role will be owning client- and server-side tagging, consent, and data governance across web and native mobile experiences in a highly regulated fintech environment.

While this is a contractor role, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with a talented, supportive team, work on diverse projects, and make a tangible impact. We value flexibility, autonomy, and innovation, and we strive to create an environment where contractors can thrive while delivering exceptional results.

Benefits of Becoming a Northern Contractor

In exchange for your talent, Northern offers:

  • Competitive Rates
  • Flexible work to promote work-life integration
  • Remote-first or hybrid flexibility
  • Asynchronous work
  • Supportive Operations Team
  • 15-20 hours a week

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the design and implementation of consent and data-exclusion solutions across web and native mobile apps to meet GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and ePrivacy requirements, including CMP integration, IAB TCF support, consent signal propagation, and mobile consent strategy
  • Architect, administer, and optimize tag governance/meta-monitoring using ObservePoint (or similar), including automated audits, alerting, journey validations, data layer rules, health dashboards in Confluence, and lightweight version control for monitoring configurations
  • Own hands-on tagging in Tealium iQ: build extensions and load rules in JavaScript, configure consent and privacy settings, publish new features across environments, and troubleshoot complex issues
  • Define and maintain scalable data layer standards (e.g., W3C CEDDL or custom schemas); partner with engineering to implement across AEM web properties and mobile apps
  • Support and quality-assure large-scale CMS initiatives (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager) including analytics/tag migration, content instrumentation, and release validation
  • Provide consultative solutions to internal partner teams on tag management, data design, analytics administration, attribution, and digital advertising architecture, balancing performance, accessibility, security, and compliance
  • Implement and maintain integrations with analytics, experimentation, and advertising platforms (e.g., Adobe Analytics/GA4, Floodlight/CM360, Meta, LinkedIn, Braze, Branch/Adjust), including server-side where applicable
  • Establish and maintain ongoing monitoring, alerting, and SLAs for data quality; create documentation, playbooks, and Confluence dashboards; deliver training and evangelize data collection and governance best practices
  • Diagnose technical issues using JavaScript, DevTools, Charles/Fiddler, and network analysis; design and deploy fixes through Agile release processes
  • Collaborate with Legal/Privacy, InfoSec, and Risk to align implementations with policy, DPIAs, vendor assessments, records of processing, and data subject request workflows
  • Work within and help improve Agile practices (story writing, backlog grooming, sprint ceremonies) across the MarTech and partner engineering teams

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years in tag management/MarTech/analytics engineering, including 3+ years hands-on with Tealium iQ and strong JavaScript skills
  • Demonstrated experience designing and deploying GDPR/CCPA-compliant consent and exclusion systems across web and mobile; practical knowledge of CMPs (e.g., OneTrust, TrustArc), IAB TCF, and GPC
  • Proven ability to architect and operate tag meta-monitoring with ObservePoint: automated audits, journeys, data layer validation, alerting, API usage, and health reporting (e.g., Confluence)
  • Experience supporting AEM (Adobe Experience Manager) implementations or migrations, including analytics and tagging strategy, content QA, and deployment coordination
  • Strong background in data layer design and governance; event taxonomy, schema versioning, and documentation
  • Hands-on experience with mobile tagging and SDKs (e.g., Tealium, Adobe, Firebase), and collaborating with iOS/Android engineers on instrumentation
  • Familiarity with digital advertising/MarTech ecosystems and integrations (e.g., CM360/Floodlight, Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, Bing, Salesforce, Braze, Branch/Adjust)
  • Proficiency with debugging and testing tools: Chrome DevTools, Charles/Fiddler, network proxies, Postman; solid understanding of cookies/storage, consent modes, and client/server data flows
  • Experience with Agile tools and DevOps practices: Git-based version control, CI/CD workflows, Jira, and Confluence; strong documentation habits
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to translate business requirements into technical specs and mentor peers

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience in fintech or other highly regulated industries; understanding of PII handling, PCI/SOC2 considerations, and secure-by-design practices

Contract Details:

  • Duration: 12 months
  • Hours: 40 hours/week
  • Location: Remote
