The Senior Technical Operations Scientist (Blood Virus) is responsible for transferring a suite of Blood Virus (BV) assays from Development into Manufacturing and supporting them after launch by identifying and resolving complex technical issues during production, or qualifying enhancements to existing or modified product configurations. The BV team is enabling one of the biggest business priorities of Beckman Coulter’s global product portfolio.

This position is part of the Technical Operations Department located just outside Tulla in Lismeehan, O'Callaghan's Mills, Co. Clare and will be designated onsite.

You will be a part of the Blood Virus (BV) Technical Operations Team and report to the BV Technical Operations Manager responsible for leading a team of scientists involved in the BV Manufacturing Design Transfer and Support. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify resolution to multiple complex technical problems, utilizing the scientific method as the foundation for problem solving.

  • Participate on technology transfer teams, present and discuss technical and non-technical aspects of assignments with less experienced personnel, peers, or upper management levels.

  • Perform comprehensive tests using advanced experimental design and analyze results using sophisticated statistical data analysis.

  • Plan and prioritize daily and weekly work assignments with sensitivity to project priorities and their impact on the immediate business unit, as well as impact to corporate goals and objectives.

  • Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring less experienced team members in areas of expertise.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • B.Sc. (Level 8) in chemistry, biochemistry or related scientific field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience or Doctoral degree with 2+ years’ experience.

  • Good technical knowledge and hands on experience of Immunoassay core technologies and applications, such as Particle coupling, ELISA, Bioconjugation, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Enzymology.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt and influence others with a positive, can-do attitude

  • Analytical skills with the ability to recognize problems, distill and define the pertinent issues, and determine and propose effective solutions
