Senior Test Analyst - Payments Settlements

  • Impactful work on critical national payments settlements systems that help run the Australian economy.
  • This is for a fixed-term 12-month engagement.


We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Analyst to join the Functional Testing team in Payments Settlements department. The Department is responsible for the ongoing development and smooth operation of Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System (RITS) and the Fast Settlement Service (FSS), the day-to-day management of Exchange Settlement Accounts, and back-office settlement of transactions arising from the Bank's open market operations and reserves management trades. The Department also provides a low-value clearing service to payments system participants for the exchange of cheque and direct entry payment files.


About the Role

  • Work with the team to drive quality improvements particularly in the testing space, to ensure a consistent approach to testing and to foster a quality mindset.
  • Support coordination and planning of testing activities aimed at minimising risk while achieving high levels of quality, in the most pragmatic manner.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, developers, and business analysts to understand functional requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Comprehensive and effective analysis of functional requirements and design of risk-based, fit-for-purpose test cases.
  • Plan and execute functional testing related deliverables across various test levels.
  • Manual execution of functional, end-to-end and regression test scenarios in accordance to test timelines
  • Timely reporting of defects, participation in defect triage meetings and validation of fixes
  • Contribute to regular test updates
  • Maintain quality and relevance of test artefacts, analysis outcome and other documentation
  • Contribute to producing Handover document for operations team

About you

  • A good understanding of banking, payments and settlements systems, services and operations.
  • Extensive experience in planning, support and testing of functional changes to mission critical systems.
  • Experience in testing of ISO 20022 messages and solid comprehension on message usage guidelines.
  • Experience in working with testing tools (e.g. JIRA, QMetry, Database tools).
  • Strong technical documentation/interpretation skills and proven ability to be analytical and work creatively to solve problems.
  • Practical testing experience in waterfall and agile software development methodology.
  • Experience writing tests in GWT and automation scripting is desirable.
  • An ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Degree in IT, business, finance or other relevant discipline.
