Senior / Tooling Engineer
Job Summary
You will manage mold design and manufacturing processes to ensure robust tooling, coordinate mold trials, and drive tool improvements to meet quality and schedule commitments.
Responsibilities
- Participate in mold design development by reviewing part designs to ensure compliance with standards and robust tool production
- Conduct tool improvement reviews to establish key milestones and assign responsibilities for design, manufacturing, mold trials, and qualification
- Monitor, track, and report tool progress to program managers and engineers to ensure adherence to committed schedules
- Manage and implement engineering changes to tooling effectively
- Coordinate mold trial activities, actively participating to validate molds and ancillary tooling accurately
- Lead post-mold trial meetings, prepare review documentation, and recommend tooling improvements to shorten qualification timelines
- Collaborate with QA personnel to study First Article Inspection (FAI) results and coordinate necessary tool adjustments
- Inspect and evaluate transfer tools, providing recommendations for improvements
- Ensure all processes comply with the Company’s ISO Quality System and procedures
- Liaise with and manage subcontractors for outsourced mold projects
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and operational goals
Required competencies and certifications
- Diploma in Mechanical or Precision Engineering or equivalent
- 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in mold design and manufacturing
- Knowledge of project management and manufacturing processes essential for tooling projects
- Proficiency in mold design, fabrication, and molding processes
