Senior Trust Officer
What is the opportunity?
As a Senior Trust Officer, you will be reporting to the Head of Trust Administration. You will be primarily assisting with the day-to-day administration duties of Trust structures managed in Singapore and serving as the primary staff for onboarding new trust structures, responsible for reviewing new business submissions and documents, vetting legal documents, and assessing complex trust structures that complies with RBC policies.
What will you do?
- Portfolio management and client relationships: Responsible for a portfolio of high-net-worth clients’ Trust relationships and acting as an effective member of the fiduciary team to ensure that all business objectives are met and operational standards and controls are complied with.
- Fiduciary team contributions: Assist other team members to maintain a sustainable fiduciary business and uphold the highest level of trust and company administration to minimize business risk.
- Compliance and risk management: Adhere/Comply to a culture of compliance with policies and appropriate risk management frameworks.
- Client and stakeholder communication: Respond to requests from clients, family offices, outside professionals and Banking Teams for execution of transactions, provision of information, FATCA and CRS requirements, and regulatory compliance matters on a timely manner.
- Document and file maintenance: Maintain fiduciary documentary files according to guidelines and procedures to ensure that legal, fiduciary and record-keeping responsibilities are performed with appropriate evidence on a timely basis.
- Financial statement review: Review the Trust and underlying company’s financial statements prepared by the trust accountant to ensure they are in line with the trust structures.
- Regulatory procedure updates: Ensure all the RBC policies and procedures are compiled in administering the trust structures. Escalate to management if there is any deviation.
- Ad hoc projects: Handle any ad hoc projects as assigned.
- New business review function: Participate in the review and vetting of new business submissions, including document review, legal vetting, liaising with external advisors including but not limited to external law firms or inhouse legal on the terms of the trust documents, and analysis of complex trust structures to ensure alignment with RBC standards and regulatory requirements Legal Documentation: Primary contact for reviewing any amendments to RBC Standard agreement and liaison point with both inhouse legal and external law firms.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- At least 10 years’ experience in handling Trust administration matters
- Ability to participate in meetings with Wealth Planners, Relationship Managers and clients as required
- Legal, or other relevant legal-related qualifications
- Strong technical ability in trust laws for respective jurisdictions and good operational knowledge of various trust types available in respective jurisdictions
- Good knowledge of applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
- Team player and self-motivated
- Deep experience with new business review processes and complex trust structure analysis
- Extensive experience in reviewing legal documentation
- Hands on person with eyes for details
Nice-to-have
- STEP qualified
- Experience with multi-jurisdictional trust arrangements and cross-border structuring
- This role requires speaking to North Asia-based clients, proficiency in Mandarin/ Cantonese is nice-to-have
