Summary
The Senior Vice President & Chief Pharmacy Officer (SVP, CPO) serves as the executive leader responsible for the strategic direction, clinical excellence, operational performance, and financial stewardship of all pharmacy services across Jefferson Health. This role provides systemwide leadership for inpatient, ambulatory, specialty, retail, and community pharmacy operations, ensuring a fully integrated, high-performing medication-use system across the continuum of care. As a key member of the senior executive leadership team, the SVP, CPO partners closely with executive, medical, academic, research, and operational leaders to advance Jefferson’s mission through innovation, quality, access, affordability, and workforce excellence in pharmacy services.

Job Duties

  • Establish and lead a comprehensive enterprise pharmacy strategy aligned with Jefferson Health’s clinical, academic, research, operational, and financial priorities.
  • Provide executive oversight for all pharmacy services across inpatient, ambulatory, specialty, retail, and community-based settings.
  • Serve as the system authority on medication management, formulary strategy, clinical pharmacy practice standards, and medication safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Lead enterprise financial stewardship including budgeting, contracting, drug spend management, and cost-containment strategies.
  • Direct systemwide drug procurement strategy including GPO participation and supplier partnerships.
  • Provide executive oversight of the 340B Drug Pricing Program ensuring compliance and optimization.
  • Partner with executive, physician, nursing, IS&T, finance, and operations leaders to support integrated patient care.
  • Drive performance improvement, quality outcomes, and data-driven decision making.
  • Lead pharmacy technology strategy and innovation including automation, analytics, and informatics.
  • Identify and mitigate clinical, operational, financial, and regulatory medication-related risks.
  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing pharmacy leadership team.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), or RPh
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MS, or equivalent) - required
  • Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency or equivalent leadership /specialization- preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive pharmacy leadership experience within a large, complex health system
  • Enterprise pharmacy leadership across multiple care settings
  • Expertise in inpatient, ambulatory, specialty, retail, and community pharmacy models
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including 340B and contracting
  • Proven ability to drive systemwide change and executive-level collaboration
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

    Physical Demands
    Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
