Senior Vice President – Depositary Funds and Custody Oversight

Overview

BNY is seeking a Senior Vice President to join its Depositary Funds and Custody Oversight team in Luxembourg. This role is responsible for overseeing key depositary control activities across funds structures, with a focus on risk-based oversight, control execution, stakeholder management, escalation handling, and reporting. The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of fund oversight activities and the leadership capability to operate effectively across a complex governance and operating environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee depositary control activities relating to:
    • subscriptions and redemptions
    • valuations of shares / unit pricing
    • timely settlement of transactions
    • Distribution of income
    • duties relating to the execution of ManCo / AIFM instructions
  • Define, maintain, and monitor the Oversight Risk Based Approach (RBA)
  • Review and maintain relevant oversight templates and documentation, including SLD template review and related control materials
  • Oversee sub-custodian monitoring
  • Contribute to governance and control forums
  • Support and oversee risk restitution, issue remediation, and follow-up actions
  • Produce and review monthly reporting
  • Manage and coordinate depositary escalations, ensuring timely communication, investigation, and resolution
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across operations, custody, risk, oversight, and governance functions to support a strong control environment

Required qualifications

  • Significant experience in depositary oversight, custody oversight, fund administration, asset servicing, or related funds control environment
  • Strong understanding of fund lifecycle oversight activities including NAV, pricing, subscriptions/redemptions, settlements, and income distribution
  • Experience with risk and control frameworks and applying a risk-based oversight approach
  • Strong Knowledge of Luxembourg funds environment and relevant operational oversight practices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage escalations, reporting, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong Experience with UCITS, AIF, and/or PERE fund structures
  • Experience in sub-custodian oversight and third-party monitoring
  • Exposure to governance forums, control reviews, and remediation management
  • Experience in a senior oversight role within a regulated financial services environment
