Service Manager - Food Produce Technologies & Equipment

As the Technical Service Manager for Fresh Produce Technologies and Equipment you will lead and inspires our technical service teams while serving as a key partner to our customers.

This role focuses on elevating service performance, strengthening best practices, and building long-term customer relationships across the JBT Marel our Fresh Produce Technologies (FPT) division—primarily in California’s Central Valley, with additional support in Hawaii and on the East Coast.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support our service organization, promoting a strong safety, quality, and customer-focused culture.
  • Visit customer sites to identify improvement opportunities and recommend system and process enhancements.
  • Ensure fast, effective response to unplanned events and technical issues.
  • Participate in equipment and facility surveys to drive performance, reliability, and uptime.
  • Stay informed on competitor offerings to highlight and enhance JBT Marel’s value proposition.
  • Partner with HR as needed to support employee development, resolve issues, and maintain high morale.
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and positive change across service operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; Agriculture, Biology, or Horticulture background a plus.
  • 5+ years of team management experience, ideally in technical or field service.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; customer-focused and results-driven.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel and work variable hours (including some evenings/weekends during peak season).
  • Company Vehicle is provided. 95% Central Valley CA travel is required and about 5% travel if needed to North Carolina, TX and HI.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work in both office and industrial environments (indoor/outdoor, around machinery, noise, dust, and chemicals).
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, and perform repetitive tasks; lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers; clear verbal and written communication required.
  • Position requires significant travel, primarily within the United States, but some international. Approximately 25-50% of the time will be in the field and the rest of the time will be in the Visalia, CA office.

The estimated annual salary range for this role is $110,000 - $130,000 annually. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
