Sheet Metal Engineer

Role Summary
Responsible for end-to-end management of sheet metal fabrication projects, ensuring successful execution from design review and material planning to production, quality control, and on-time delivery. Acts as the key liaison between engineering, production, suppliers, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple fabrication projects, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Review customer drawings, specifications, and BOMs for manufacturability.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Prepare and monitor project schedules, work orders, and production plans.
  • Support CAD/CAM teams in developing fabrication drawings and nesting layouts.
  • Apply DFM principles for sheet metal processes including cutting, bending, welding, punching, and forming.
  • Monitor shop-floor activities, machine scheduling, and production progress.
  • Resolve technical and production issues, minimizing delays and material wastage.
  • Liaise with customers and vendors on technical requirements, project updates, and outsourced processes.
  • Prepare project status reports and ensure quality and delivery targets are met.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 3–6 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, heavy engineering, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, materials, and fabrication methods.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and BOMs.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM, nesting software, and Trumpf machines is an advantage.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.

Preferred Industries: Sheet Metal Fabrication, Enclosures, Automotive, Industrial Equipment.
