Shelter Support Attendant

Position Overview

KLEO Community Family Life Center (KLEO) is seeking an individual to serve as a Shelter Support Attendant. This role is responsible for executing the daily logistical and environmental activities of the shelter under the direction of the Shelter Program & Client Services Manager. The selected individual will support the mission of KLEO by ensuring a clean, safe, and organized environment for all residents and program initiatives.



Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Logistical Support: Assist with the logistical setup for new arrivals, including preparing linens, bed assignments, and welcome kits.
  • Facility Oversight: Conduct hourly walking inspections of all interior and exterior facility areas to ensure safety and order.
  • Nutrition Services: Support the distribution of meals and snacks, including the setup and cleaning of dining areas.
  • Laundry Operations: Manage regular laundry services for linens, towels, and resident clothing.
  • Maintenance & Inventory: Perform regular custodial and janitorial duties to maintain facility standards.
  • Supply Logistics: Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking food or facility supply deliveries.
  • Policy Guidance: Communicate and encourage resident adherence to shelter rules and safety policies.
  • Conflict Resolution & De-escalation: Actively practice proven de-escalation techniques to manage resident conflicts and consistently enforce shelter policies and procedures to ensure a safe community environment.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to facility emergencies in a timely and professional fashion.
  • Team Participation: Attend staff meetings and work cooperatively with other team members to support shelter operations.
  • Other: Performance of all other duties as needed and assigned by the Shelter Program & Client Services Manager, Director of Shelter Operations, COO and President/CEO.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School/GED or four-years of equivalent experience.

General Physical Requirements

  • Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Ability to carry laundry and supplies up four flights of stairs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while on-site.

Skills & Abilities

  • Experience providing services to individuals experiencing homelessness is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace or MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Sensitivity to issues of diversity and commitment to being a team player.

Conditions of Employment

  • Successful completion of a Background Check.
  • Possession of or ability to complete CPR Training.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with KLEO policy and ADA standards.
