Shift Technician

Summary

This position is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance and repair of the physical structure, utility services, equipment, fixtures, and furnishings of the hotel facilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with supervisor or technicians to carry out planned preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and repairs as per instructed by Engineer
  • Responsible of all technicians under Senior technician care
  • Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance programs for the various systems such as (not limited to) the following:
  • Air-conditioning & electrical, refrigeration, FLS equipment, building maintenance including furniture & fixtures, parts renewal & repairs, kitchen equipment, low voltage (LV), guest rooms, F&B outlets, front/back of the house, plumbing & drainage.
  • Comply with established safety practices while performing repair or retrofit of all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, water treatment, etc. Operate, maintain and repairs all hotel systems, devices, controls, equipment, etc.
  • Comply with all established procedures, e.g. Work Orders, Out-of-Order Rooms, Emergencies, etc.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance, repair or retrofit of electrical, mechanical plumbing, fire protection, and life safety systems.
  • Records and analyses daily operating logs and utilities.
  • Handles emergencies in repair works.
  • Carry out improvement, maintenance and repair work on all building services and equipment according to the standards and requirements.
  • Perform daily startup, shutdown and inspection of building services and equipment according to the standards and requirements.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, and perform Engineering housekeeping work.
  • Be fully familiar of the Emergency Procedures, Policies and Standard Operating Procedures as established by the Hotel.
  • Attend all briefings, meetings and trainings as assigned by management.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the management.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision
  • Resolve problem without waiting for ‘Spoon feeding’ idea.
  • Good physical condition, strength and well
  • Enforce and check general housekeeping and tidiness of workplace and workspace
  • Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical system
  • Ability to conduct basic troubleshoot, test, repair and service equipment
  • Fast, efficient and accurate when escalating problem up to Engineers
  • Willingness to work overtime if necessary
  • Able to make judgement and decision when Engineer is not around
  • Assist Engineer to follow up outstanding issue passed down

Qualifications / Experience

  • Trade Certificate or a minimum of 1 year of relevant hands-on experience in area of expertise
  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in English language
  • Good communication and customer contact skills
  • Service oriented with an eye for details
  • Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team
  • Self-motivated and energetic
  • Able to lead the team in absence of supervisor
  • Required to come down on site is urgent issue arise
  • Control of technician’s OT and work roster
  • Required simple computer knowledge etc, word and excel
