Job Description:
Operate the plant equipment (both from the board and in the field), package, receive material in the off-hours, and coordinate with Laboratory and Maintenance personnel to produce a quality product in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Monitor control board and outside indicators for process conditions to produce and process the designated products in a safe, controlled, and quality manner.
This includes but is not limited to:
4.1 Monitoring raw material levels for sufficient supply for the designated production. Report any deficiencies to the Shift Supervisor.
4.2 Monitoring reaction batches for progressing through the batch sequence in a timely manner.
4.3 Monitoring reaction batch dosing to ensure correct raw material addition.
4.4 Close control of reaction temperature to ensure minimum produce deviation.
4.5 Monitoring reaction batch conditions to ensure they are correct for the particular product and the reaction batch step.
4.6 Monitoring/adjusting centrifuge conditions for efficient processing.
4.7 Monitoring/adjusting drier conditions for efficient processing.
4.8 Packaging products in appropriate containers as necessary and sampling as designated.
4.9 Getting samples to the lab as requested.
4.10 Cleaning process equipment during product changes to effectively eliminate cross product contamination.
4.11 Maintaining equipment operational status to prevent outside process contamination.
4.12 Cleaning process equipment after process upsets to get equipment back into service.
4.13 Maintain records of reaction batch processing and downstream processing including but not limited to:
4.14 Thoroughly completed reaction batch logs.
4.15 Centrifuge operating conditions and % moisture.
4.16 Drier operating conditions and all required parameters.
4.17 Daily packaging logs and inventory adjustment forms.
4.18 Daily data entry into production department database.
4.19 Report any abnormal process conditions to the Shift Supervisor.
4.20 Make written reports of all process upsets on the day they are detected.
4.21 Check equipment for correct oil levels, leaks, unusual vibration, unusual noise, reactor build ups, etc., and report any abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor. This includes but is not limited to agitators, pumps, centrifuges, blowers, utilities units, packaging equipment, and steam traps.
4.22 Maintain plant housekeeping to ensure safe operating environment.
4.23 Prepare equipment for repairs/modifications by maintenance personnel (i.e., line break, block-in, de-pressure, clean, electrical lock-out, etc.)
4.24 Make schedule safety equipment checks (safety showers, extinguishers, sprinkler systems, etc.)
4.25 Fill batch feed tanks as necessary.
4.26 Receive/unload bulk raw materials as necessary.
4.27 Receive/unload containerized raw materials as necessary.
4.28 Available for on-call duty as required and performing other duties as requested.
4.29 Attend and participate in refresher and/or new process & safety training.
4.30 Perform all duties following prescribed safety procedures, use all PPE as required, and report to MCA personnel any unsafe act or condition observed.
6.1 High School graduate or GED. Trade school or Two years college is highly desirable.
6.2 Satisfactory completion of Chemical Process Technician course, or process operator experience.
6.3 Experience in batch plant operations and solids handling highly desirable.
6.4 Working knowledge of Microsoft products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
