Shipping & Receiving Operator - Ethanol Plant

The starting rate of pay for this position is $24.25 and represents Valero’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the expected compensation at the time of this posting. Hired candidates may also be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of a discretionary bonus and sign-on bonus. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of job-related factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications and experience.

As a Shipping & Receiving Operator you will be responsible for unloading raw materials, loading ethanol and distiller’s grain, and the movement of trucks and rail cars on the plant site. Ensures maximum production quantity and quality while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. This position works a 12-hour rotating day shift schedule.

  • Operate and maintain all processes associated with corn receiving, corn storage, product storage, unloading, and loading.
  • Unload corn from trucks and railcars.
  • Load ethanol into trucks and railcars.
  • Load distiller’s grains into trucks, railcars, and containers.
  • Take samples of corn, ethanol, and distiller’s grains for testing.
  • Operate plant scale house; probes, analyzes, and grades corn, weighs trucks in and out, enters data into scale house software, issues paperwork to drivers.
  • Operate meters and bulk weighers to facilitate product loading.
  • Operate locomotive or rail mover to move railcars on plant site to facilitate loading and unloading of product.
  • Operate large machinery and equipment such as front end loaders and lifts.
  • Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs. (LOTO-lock out tag out, Safe Work Permit, FSMA-Food Safety Modernization Act).
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks as required.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties to maintain a clean work environment.
  • Monitor area equipment and assists with maintenance as required.
  • Communicate regularly with local rail service to facilitate rail movement activities.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.
