Shop Operator

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Read work order and determine the specifications needed for the material.
  2. Calculate the required lengths by using math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  3. Measure material to the correct specification as indicated on the work order.
  4. Cut material using saw.
  5. Move material to appropriate location.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
  7. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide on the job training to new employees as needed.
  2. Follow all safety and health policies and procedures issued by the company.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Ability to read tape measure accurately.
  3. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
  4. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
  5. Forklift certification preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel toed work boots, and gloves.

PPE REQUIRED

Safety glasses, ear protection, steel toed boots, and gloves. Use of grinder/cutting torch equipment requires face shield or goggles.
