Show Technician

The Operations AV Technician is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all AVL (Audio, Video, and Lighting) systems within the exhibition. This role involves working closely with the Production Team during installation and de-installation, ensuring the seamless technical operation of the exhibition, and providing high-quality audiovisual experiences for guests.

This role requires strong problem-solving skills, familiarity with AVL systems, and the ability to follow technical documentation for troubleshooting and maintenance. Role Responsibilities

  • Assist the Production Team during the installation phase, ensuring proper setup and commissioning of all AVL systems.
  • Daily operation of AVL systems, including start-up and shut-down procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on AVL equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Work closely with the Technical Manager to document and report any technical faults or system errors, assisting in tracking and resolution.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare AVL equipment, ensuring availability of serviceable components to support operations.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager and Operations Team to ensure a seamless technical experience for both guests and staff.
  • Support the de-installation phase, ensuring AVL systems are dismantled, accounted for, and properly packed for shipment.
  • Provide technical support during exhibition operating hours to ensure immediate response to any AVL-related issues.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working with AVL systems, including audio mixing, video distribution, and lighting control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in low-voltage electronics, control systems, and audiovisual networking.
  • Experience working with show control systems, interactive displays, projectors, LED screens, and digital audio consoles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience using hand and power tools for basic repairs and maintenance.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, for tracking maintenance and reporting issues.
  • Prior experience in themed entertainment, live events, exhibitions, or theatre AV operations is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the exhibition schedule.
