Snowmaker I
A snowmaker 1 operates snowmaking equipment to produce high-quality machine-made snow,
helping build and maintain skiable terrain throughout the season. This role is critical during early and late
seasons when natural snow is limited. Snowmakers must be adaptable, safety-conscious, and ready to
respond to rapidly changing weather and operational conditions. Hours fluctuate based on snow
production demands and mountain needs, as this is a weather-dependent department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Operate on-hill snowmaking equipment, snow guns, hydrants, on-board compressors, and
high-voltage/high-pressure systems, following all required safety precautions
● Produce high-quality machine-made snow by applying proper techniques, including snow type
selection, gun placement, and hose management
● Monitor and interpret wet-bulb temperatures and weather conditions to optimize snow production
and quality
● Adjust and maintain proper air and water flow rates for maximum snowmaking efficiency.
● Assist supervisors with system start-up, shut-down, and equipment relocation as needed
throughout the season
● Monitor and maintain gun run conditions, including managing ice buildup, clearing hoses, and
applying proper padding
● Know the snowmaking system layout: pumphouse, hydrants, valves, gun locations, and general
mountain terrain
● Inspect and wear all required PPE daily; follow all safety procedures and comply with Arizona
Snowbowl's Lockout/Tagout program
● Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors; accurately report equipment issues,
safety concerns, and production data
● Prevent damage to natural and resort features, including trees, lifts, buildings, and vehicles
● Arrive each shift dressed appropriately for cold weather with suitable waterproof footwear
● Follow all resort sustainability guidelines for responsible snowmaking operations. This is a
weather-dependent position. Hours are not guaranteed and will fluctuate based on conditions and
operational needs. A standard 40-hour workweek cannot be guaranteed.
● Record time in Paycom at the start and end of every shift, verify entries daily, and confirm your
timecard at the close of each pay period
● Other duties as assigned
