Join a purpose-driven residential care service supporting female Children & Young Persons (CYPs) in need of care and protection. At CSLMCH, we deliver trauma-informed, child-centred and family-focused interventions aligned with MSF standards and practice frameworks.

About the Role

You will provide professional casework and care planning for female residents assessed under CANS 1 (Low Needs) and CANS 2(Moderate Needs). The role involves working within a residential children’s home setting, applying structured interventions to support safety, stability, and reintegration outcomes. You will be part of a team comprising Residential Care Officers and Youth Work Associates who oversee the daily operations of the dormitories.

Key Responsibilities

Casework & Case Management

  • Conduct holistic assessments using recognised social work frameworks (e.g. ecological systems, strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches)
  • Develop, implement and review Individual Care Plans (ICP) in accordance with MSF requirements
  • Monitor residents’ progress across behavioural, emotional, developmental and psychosocial domains
  • Prepare case reports, risk assessments, and review documentation in a timely and professional manner

Residential Care Practice

  • Apply evidence-informed residential care practices in managing female CYPs with trauma histories
  • Maintain structure, routines, and therapeutic milieu within the residential setting
  • Manage group dynamics, peer relationships and behavioural challenges using consistent approaches
  • Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, including self-harm, AWOL risks, and emotional distress

Family Work & Reintegration

  • Engage families using a family-centric approach to support reunification where appropriate
  • Conduct home visits and facilitate home leave planning and reviews
  • Coordinate and implement reintegration plans aligned with case goals and MSF care planning processes

Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal care staff, psychologists, and programme teams
  • Liaise with external stakeholders (MSF, schools, FSCs, hospitals)
  • Participate in case conferences, Child Protection processes, and inter-agency reviews

Education & Development Support

  • Monitor educational progress and coordinate with schools
  • Support life skills development and transition planning for independent living

Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure all case documentation meets MSF licensing, audit and organisational standards
  • Maintain accurate records in case management systems

What We Are Looking For

  • Degree or Graduate Diploma in Social Work from a recognised institution. Qualifications in psychology, counselling and related fields will be considered.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably working with female CYPs in a residential children’s home setting
  • Familiarity with MSF Child Protection and residential care frameworks will be an advantage
  • Strong competencies in assessment, case planning and risk management
  • Good report writing and documentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team within a residential care environment
  • Demonstrates empathy, professional boundaries, and commitment to child safety and wellbeing
