Our team builds automation frameworks, efficiency improvement tools and complex automation libraries using Python and AI/LLMs. These support teams working on Akamai Delivery, Web, Origin Services and Edge Computing products. We develop automation infrastructure for product testing and collaborate with Engineering teams. We are knowledgeable about Akamai products and focus on developing automation frameworks that empower the Product development and testing teams.

You will be tasked with solving critical software automation and verification problems in a distributed systems environment. Working with developers and QA teams you will become an expert in system-wide automation infrastructure. You will ensure the exceptional performance of the products used to deliver the world's largest OTT events.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Architecting and implementing next-generation AI-powered automation infrastructures to optimize engineering efficiency and advance comprehensive verification strategies.
• Partnering with Engineering groups to embed AI-driven solutions and LLM-based utilities within current workflows, elevating the productivity and end-to-end developer journey.
• Architecting and maintaining automation infrastructure that leverages machine learning to proactively identify bottlenecks and optimize Akamai's delivery and edge services.
• Evangelizing AI-integrated automation best practices across the organization, mentoring teams on the effective adoption of automation tools.
• Researching and implementing cutting-edge AI technologies to solve complex, large-scale challenges in distributed systems and automation.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience; 2-3 years of relevant experience in AI
• Be proficient in Python and experience developing robust automation frameworks, libraries, or developer tools.
• Have experience using Coding agents like Claude code, Github Copilot or similar tools.
• Have experience building AI tools, Eval frameworks and Context/RAG tools using LangChain/Graph, Vector DBs etc.
• Have demonstrated experience leveraging AI/LLMs or machine learning to improve software development lifecycles (SDLC), Developer experience and test automation .
• Possess a solid understanding of distributed systems, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern CI/CD pipelines.
