What's the job?
About the role:
We are entering an exciting period of transformation and are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Software Engineer to join our Group Carrier Management team. This team builds and maintains a set of services that enable seamless integration with multiple 3rd party carriers, managing parcel deliveries and returns while selecting the most suitable carrier service based on rules and package characteristics.
As a Software Engineer, you will work closely with your cross functional teammates to design, build, and enhance features for a high impact system used daily by thousands of users. You will bring technical ability, fresh ideas, and a proactive mindset to help us evolve our platform and deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, high-quality software solutions
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver valuable features
- Participate in code, design, and test reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability
- Apply DevOps practices for continuous integration, testing, and deployment
- Integrate applications with monitoring and support tools to ensure reliability
- Contribute to Agile team processes, helping to improve ways of working
- Provide and receive constructive feedback to continuously raise software standards
- Troubleshoot issues across the development lifecycle and support ongoing improvements
What you'll bring
Skills and Experience:
- Strong professional experience with Java and Spring Framework
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture
- Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with Docker
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and pipelines (e.g. GitLab CI/CD)
- Understanding of software engineering best practices (version control, unit/integration/performance testing)
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience working within an Agile/Scrum team
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
Nice to have:
- Experience with Kafka and non-relational databases
- Skilled in serverless development
- Hands-on with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS)
- Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes)
- Some experience with Python
