Software Engineer L2/3

Jovian Concepts, LLC is looking to hire an experienced Java Developer for a Software Engineer Level 2 or 3 position located in the Annapolis Junction, MD area. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>

A current and active TS/SCI Clearance with a Polygraph is required to be considered.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>

Description:<\/b>
The Software Engineer develops,\nmaintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g.,\nprocessing\-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of\nextremely large data sets, real\-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.\nWorks individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests\nsoftware components for adherence to the design requirements and\ndocuments test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes\nsoftware development and software design methodologies appropriate\nto the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade<\/span><\/span>[1]<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>offs,\nsoftware reuse, use of Commercial Off\-the\-shelf (COTS)/Government Off\-the\-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from\nsystem level to individual software components.<\/span><\/span>

The Level 2 or 3 Software Engineer\n(SWE) shall possess the following capabilities:<\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>

  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and\nperformance requirements
    <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Debug existing software and correct defects
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Provide recommendations for improving documentation and\nsoftware development process standards<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Design and code new software or modify existing\nsoftware to add new features<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified\nsystems or <\/span><\/span>operating environments<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed\ndatabases or data repositories<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Write or review software and system documentation<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the\nsoftware development process being used on any particular project<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Design or implement complex database or data repository\ninterfaces/queries<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed\nsystem performance and functional standards<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures\nfor software components<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system\nperformance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work\nprocesses; and investigate problem areas<\/span>

  • Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to\nnew hardware, or to improve its performance<\/span>
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Design, develop and modify software systems, using\nscientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of\ndesign<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Design or implement complex\nalgorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; Perform quality control on team\nproducts<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Implement recommendations for improving documentation\nand software development process standards
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Oversee one or more software development teams and\nensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development\nprocess being used on any particular
    project<\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to\nderive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities,\nperformance requirements and interfaces<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor\nequipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Recommend new technologies and processes for complex\nsoftware projects<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Serve as the technical lead of multiple software\ndevelopment teams
    <\/span><\/span><\/li>
  • Select the software development process in coordination\nwith the customer and system engineering<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Ensure quality control of all developed and modified\nsoftware<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to\none or more teams and monitor their performance

    • Fourteen (14)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>years experience<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and<\/span><\/span><\/span> c<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>omplexity is<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>required.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
      <\/span><\/span><\/li>
    • Bachelor\u2019s degree in Computer Science<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>or related discipline from an accredited college or university is<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>required. Four (4) years of<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>additional<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor\u2019s degree.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>

      • Twenty (20)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>years experience<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and<\/span><\/span><\/span> c<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>omplexity is<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>required.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
        <\/li>
      • Bachelor\u2019s degree in Computer Science<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>or related discipline from an accredited college or university is<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>required.         Core Skills Required or Desired<\/span><\/b>

        • Familiar with Git, Gradle, Guice/Dependency Injection, Docker, and REST<\/span>
          <\/li>
        • Experience with the ELK stack, Mongo DB, Ansible, and Kubernetes is strongly desired.<\/span>
          <\/li>
        • Background developing front\-end UI solutions in Angular/Typescript<\/span>
          <\/li>
        • Strong Linux skills<\/span>
