POSITION OVERVIEW

SteerBridge is seeking a Software Engineer to support SteerFi, a scalable, VA-integrated payments platform used to issue Secure Cards to Veterans. This role focuses on building and maintaining backend services that ingest VA beneficiary files, coordinate card issuance with banking and processing partners, and operate securely within a federal compliance environment (AWS GovCloud).

The engineer will work directly with architects, product owners, and compliance stakeholders to ensure the system reliably supports beneficiary file processing, card issuance workflows, third-party financial integrations, and auditability required for government payment systems.

Unlike a purely feature-delivery role, this position requires the ability to move fluidly between hands-on implementation and system design — someone who can both write production code and reason about the architecture, security, and compliance implications of a regulated payments system.

SteerBridge applies proven architectural patterns — service isolation, secure third-party integration boundaries, and infrastructure segmented for GovCloud versus commercial cloud — to structure, validate, and operationalize payments data. Engineering here ensures these patterns translate into a reliable, secure, and auditable platform for a high-consequence financial workflow serving Veterans.

This is a hybrid position based in Vienna, VA.
