Team Background:

The Service Resiliency Team is medium sized team of engineers (10-15) developing tools and techniques that enable our teams to keep up with the demand for our platform. Our mission is to systematize reliability and recoverability across hundreds of services running at massive scale. Genesys Cloud is in hypergrowth. As a knowledgeable and friendly team, we consistently help our fellow team members with challenges and provide assistance with solutions. We are highly collaborative and support each other throughout the development process. You will be working specifically on the Services circle of the Service Resiliency Team which focuses on developing and maintaining a variety of microservices that support the overal SRE team's goals.

Location: For this role we are open to candidates being based out of our Galway office or remote workers in Ireland.

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Solid understanding of multi-tenanted microservice architecture and development

  • A Production First Mindset

  • Strong problem-solving skills to make valued contributions to our team and software platform

  • Current knowledge of cloud technology trends, especially within the AWS ecosystem

  • Detail-oriented approach and collaborative spirit

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with other teams across the Genesys Cloud platform when working on features or assisting them with Resiliency or Observability efforts

  • Design and develop scalable, reliable, and performant microservices and cloud-based solutions

  • Implement and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for automated building, testing, and deployment

  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to improving overall code quality and best practices

  • Participate in system design discussions and architectural decision-making

  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to ensure service health and performance

  • Work with remote team members in designing, developing, and testing features and functionality that include high scalability, availability, and reliability

  • Help with root cause analysis of functional, performance and scalability issues and contribute code to help address these issues

  • Attend daily stand-ups with team members for communication, sharing of ideas, and for supporting fellow team members in resolving any blocking issues

  • Participate in on-call rotations for services developed and owned by the Service Resiliency team

  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve existing services, either with code changes and/or architecture changes

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related discipline

  • Experience with AWS (or other cloud providers)

  • Expertise in software development with hands-on experience in AWS serverless architecture, particularly AWS Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, RDS

  • Professional experience with one of: Python, Golang

  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and RESTful API design

  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Delivery systems such as Jenkins or similar

  • Strong knowledge of database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL

  • Experience with observability platforms such as SumoLogic, New Relic, or similar tools for monitoring and troubleshooting distributed systems

  • DevOps mindset with proven experience championing Continuous Delivery best practices

  • Experience working within Agile software development frameworks

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex systems

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
