Software QA Engineer - Policy & Claims Automation (Remote, China)
BJAK is building AI-powered workflow systems that automate end-to-end insurance operations, including quotes, policy issuance, renewals, endorsements, claims, payments and customer follow-ups. These systems involve complex multi-step logic where accuracy, consistency and reliability are critical to business and customer outcomes.
We're looking for a Software QA Engineer based in China who focuses on ensuring the quality of policy and claims automation systems. This role is centered on validating complex insurance workflows, identifying defects early and improving overall system reliability across production releases.
This is a fully remote position where you'll collaborate closely with our Malaysia-based engineering, product and operations teams to improve quality across core insurance workflows.
The Mission
Ensure high-quality, reliable and accurate policy and claims automation systems by designing strong test coverage, identifying workflow issues early and preventing defects from reaching production.
What You’ll Own
Design and execute test strategies for policy issuance and claims automation systems.
Build and maintain test coverage across web, API and backend workflow systems.
Validate end-to-end insurance processes including policy creation, updates, claims submission, assessment and resolution.
Identify edge cases, workflow gaps and failure scenarios in complex insurance processes.
Improve regression testing coverage to reduce recurring defects in policy and claims systems.
Work closely with engineers and product teams to validate features before release.
Track, document and report bugs with clear reproduction steps and business impact analysis.
Support manual testing for complex workflows where automation is not yet sufficient.
Improve QA processes, test standards and overall system quality practices.
Continuously improve reliability of policy and claims workflows through structured testing.
What We're Looking For
Experience in QA engineering, software testing or test automation roles.
Strong understanding of web, API and workflow testing methodologies.
Experience testing transactional or state-based systems such as policy or claims flows.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify edge cases in complex business logic.
Ability to clearly document bugs, risks and system behavior issues.
Experience working closely with engineers, product and operations teams.
Strong ownership mindset for product quality and system correctness.
Practical, structured and disciplined approach to testing.
Comfortable working in fast-moving product and engineering environments.
Low ego and strong follow-through on quality issues.
Bonus Points
Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar test automation tools.
Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, RestAssured or similar.
Experience testing insurance, fintech or other workflow-heavy systems.
Experience with CI/CD-integrated testing pipelines.
Experience validating claims processing or policy management systems.
Understanding of distributed systems or event-driven workflows.
Experience with performance or load testing tools.
Contributions to QA automation or testing framework improvements.
Experience working in AI-driven or automation-heavy platforms.
The Kind of Builder We Want
Highly detail-oriented with strong focus on correctness in complex workflows.
Thinks in end-to-end policy and claims processes rather than isolated features.
Calm and structured when handling fast-paced releases and testing cycles.
Strong at identifying hidden issues in multi-step business logic.
Focused on preventing production issues before they impact users or operations.
Proactive in improving test coverage and system reliability.
Builds confidence in critical insurance workflows through rigorous validation.
This Role Is Not For
People who only perform manual checklist testing without structured thinking.
Individuals who report bugs without clear reproduction steps or context.
Engineers who avoid automation or deeper system validation work.
People who miss edge cases in complex insurance workflows.
Candidates who do not take ownership of product quality outcomes.
Success in This Role
You'll be successful if you can:
Improve reliability and correctness of policy and claims automation systems.
Reduce production defects in critical insurance workflows.
Strengthen test coverage across end-to-end business processes.
Detect workflow issues before they reach production.
Increase confidence in system quality across engineering and product teams.
