Solution Architect

You will write production code and build production-grade proofs of concept to validate architectural ideas. You will own and facilitate the Architectural Advice Forum, capture decisions as ADRs, and drive decentralised architectural decision-making. You will partner on AI strategy, prototype solutions, and help teams adopt AI responsibly. You will standardize patterns across backend, web and mobile, embed security-first architecture and threat modelling, and collaborate with SRE on reliability, observability and platform evolution. You will coach and mentor engineers, surface and unblock systemic technical risks and technical debt, maintain engineering principles and the Tech Radar, and contribute to architecture-relevant regulatory, security and risk conversations.

Responsibilities

• Own and facilitate the Architectural Advice Forum and drive decentralised decision-making captured as ADRs
• Build production-grade proofs of concept to de-risk patterns and validate architectural ideas
• Partner on AI strategy, identify opportunities, evaluate tooling, prototype solutions and help teams adopt AI responsibly
• Standardize backend web and mobile engineering patterns, observability, security, testing and delivery
• Define and uphold the engineering quality bar across testing, code review, observability, security, performance and production-readiness
• Embed security-first architecture and set threat-modelling and secure-by-default patterns
• Champion Domain-Driven Design and Event-Driven Architecture
• Collaborate with SRE on reliability, capacity, incident response, observability and developer platform evolution
• Coach and mentor engineers across teams
• Surface and unblock systemic technical risks, technical debt and cross-team dependencies
• Maintain engineering principles and the Tech Radar and contribute to regulatory, security and risk conversations
• Develop innovative solutions with Bitcoin at their core

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in an Architect Staff or equivalent senior-IC role
• Hands-on experience writing and reviewing production code
• Experience designing building and operating distributed event-driven systems in production
• Hands-on Domain-Driven Design experience, both strategic and tactical
• Familiarity with decentralised architectural governance, Architectural Advice Forum, RFCs and ADRs
• Proven ability to lead by influence
• Experience in regulated fintech payments or banking environments
• Experience designing security-first architectures, threat modelling, secure-by-default patterns, defence in depth, identity key and secret management
• Knowledge of modern AI ML LLMs agents and applied AI in production
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Solid understanding of cloud-native architecture microservices container-based 12-factor apps fault tolerance security and resilience
• Strong CI CD automated testing and overall SDLC practices
• AWS as cloud platform
• GCP for data warehousing
• Containerised microservices experience
• Multi-language stack experience
• Based in or near a CET-compatible timezone
