Solutions Architect
In this role, you will have the opportunity to: * Take End-to-End Ownership: Independently manage and own Cepheid's application portfolio (75% COTS/packaged software, 25% custom in-built applications) with absolute accountability and very little handholding.
Architect and Re-Architect: Provide robust architectural guidelines for third-party platforms and deep technical blueprints for internal custom applications, reverse-engineering or re-architecting legacy code bases when necessary.
Champion Governance Board Reviews: Prepare, participate in, and present your solution frameworks directly before the global Change and Enterprise Architecture Review Board (ARB) in front of peer Enterprise Architects.
Enforce Security Boundaries: Infuse global corporate security guardrails, identity parameters, and compliance governance directly into the core configuration and integration layers of all applications.
Drive Financial Optimization (FinOps): Take complete ownership of application financial health by monitoring cloud utilization, software footprints, and licensing costs to align with corporate FinOps frameworks.
Sustain DevOps Execution: Actively guide and mentor globally distributed DevOps teams to translate your architectural designs into automated pipelines and sustainable, long-term operational workflows.
Execute System Assessments: Conduct thorough tool, technology, and process assessments across the application landscape to identify operational gaps and technical debt.
Lead Application Rationalization: Build and maintain a highly structured application inventory, driving ongoing rationalization initiatives to eliminate software redundancies and optimize enterprise spend.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Solution Architecture Experience: 9–10+ years of progressive engineering and solutions architecture experience, with a proven history of operating at a Senior Staff level (P4 equivalent).
Deep Application Literacy: Strong technical depth to inspect custom code, understand intricate system integrations, and evaluate the programmatic needs of complex in-built systems.
Strategic Coordination Capability: Demonstrated capability to immediately take over application management from both a granular technical standpoint and a relationship-coordination perspective.
High-Impact Collaboration: Proven ability to build trusted relationships, communicate architectural visions clearly, and collaborate effectively with both peer technical teams and business leaders.
Operational Schedule Flexibility: Flexibility in daily working hours to facilitate seamless alignment, real-time collaboration, and technical crossover windows with global teams across different time zones.
The "Solution-First" Mindset: An impeccable, options-driven attitude toward problem-solving; a proven habit of thinking twice before saying "no" and ensuring actionable alternatives are presented.
Independent Execution Drive: A self-motivated work ethic with the emotional intelligence and drive to feel empowered, move initiatives forward autonomously, and seek validation only at key milestones.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Regulated Sector Architectures: Operating within heavily regulated environments (such as MedTech, Healthcare, or Finance) aligned with strict compliance frameworks (e.g., GxP, HIPAA, SOC2).
Cloud & Integration Topologies: Designing secure hybrid connectivity, API gateway abstractions, and identity integrations within modern cloud environments (AWS preferred).
Application Inventory Management: Establishing centralized application catalogs and leading formal software rationalization programs for global matrixed organizations.
Observability & Health Tracking: Utilizing modern operational tools, metrics harvesters, and distributed telemetry platforms to map and monitor sustained application health.
DevOps Automation Frameworks: Designing or managing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) architectures and CI/CD blueprints to streamline application onboarding.
Contract-to-Hire Frameworks: Operating successfully within strategic Contract-to-Hire (C2H) delivery models or specialized consulting arrangements.
Agile Tooling & Documentation: Utilizing enterprise collaboration platforms (such as Jira and Confluence) to build highly scannable, documentation-first architectural references.
Vendor Ecosystem Analysis: Evaluating multi-vendor SaaS capabilities, performing deep architectural gap analyses, and steering product selection matrixes.
