Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Team Lead, Solutions Engineering who will be responsible for guiding and assisting a Solutions Engineering Team, supporting all team endeavors including leading the execution of projects assigned by senior leadership, and liaising with other team leaders and departments. What you'll do:

As a Team Lead, Solutions Engineering, your key area of responsibility will be providing technical leadership, guiding and coaching a Solutions Engineering team, and leading the execution of technical projects while supporting revenue-generating and strategic efforts. You will need to work closely with Geotab's internal stakeholders, partners, customers, and cross-functional teams including Sales, Product Development, and Customer Support.

To be successful in this role you will be a strong team player and a mentor with a strategic mindset, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a keen sense of priorities. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, manage multiple high-impact projects simultaneously, and drive revenue growth through indirect sales channels and ecosystem expansion.

How you'll make an impact:

Team Leadership and Development

  • Develop, evaluate, and continuously refine team processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring adherence to best practices.

  • Run and manage team meetings, including 1:1 meetings, planning meetings and retrospectives.

  • Provide direction, mentorship, and training opportunities, empowering team members through coaching and professional development initiatives.

  • Oversee team performance, career development planning, and key performance metrics, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

  • Maintain and expand the team's technical knowledge of the Geotab ecosystem.

  • Lead and delegate projects, balancing workloads and optimizing individual and team contributions.

Solution Design and Implementation

  • Provide technical leadership and assist in scoping projects, managing partner/customer requests, lead business meetings as they relate to technical solutioning and Geotab ecosystem optimization, etc.

  • Engage and collaborate with partners and customers to optimize their utilization of Geotab’s technology, products, and solutions, tailoring the approach to meet their specific and unique requirements.

  • Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensure adherence to best practices and quality standards.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation, leveraging technical insights to enhance solution offerings and drive business success.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Build and manage relationships between the team, internal stakeholders and partners/customers:

    • Understand the varying needs of stakeholders, partners and customers;

    • Ensure that the team is adequately capturing technical requirements so that the correct challenge has been identified and is solved for;

    • Act as a point of escalation for projects and opportunities with partners and customers;

    • Cultivate partner and customer loyalty.

  • Anticipate potential conflicts and proactively address concerns to prevent escalations.

  • Communicate technical solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Manage escalations between the team, partners/customers and other internal departments.

Strategic Planning and Impact

  • Maintain a strong focus on strategic and revenue generating activities, ensuring team member efforts are impactful and align with company KPAs.

  • Identify and implement scalable processes to increase the team’s impact and effectiveness in supporting customers and driving business growth.

  • Drive continuous improvement by evaluating market trends, customer needs, and feedback to refine Geotab’s solution offerings.

What you'll bring to this role:

  • 5 - 8 years of required previous experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Business Development, Technical Account Management, Engineering Support, Software Development, Automotive Engineering, or Data Science.

  • 0 - 1 years of required leadership or mentoring experience, with a proven ability to motivate and lead people and groups.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (equivalent combination of education and/or work experience may be substituted).

  • Expert-level knowledge of telematics, IoT, APIs, and programming languages (such as Python, SQL, Java, or C#), with experience using JIRA, Salesforce, and data visualization tools like Superset or Power BI.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills with a customer-focused mindset and a strategic drive to support revenue growth.

  • Ability to travel occasionally (up to 20% of the time), including international travel; a valid passport is required.
