Sourcing & Development Engineer – Non-Metallics

The Sourcing & Development Engineer \u2013 Non\-Metallics is responsible for identifying, evaluating, developing, and managing suppliers for non\-metallic materials and components. This role bridges engineering, procurement, quality, and suppliers to ensure cost\-effective sourcing, technical feasibility, quality compliance, and timely product development.
<\/p>

The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in non\-metallic materials (Plastics, Rubber/Elastomers, Painting process, Seatings etc.) combined with strategic sourcing and supplier development capabilities.

Key Responsibilities<\/b>

1. Supplier Identification & Sourcing<\/b>
<\/p>

  • Identify and evaluate new suppliers for non\-metallic components and raw materials.
    <\/li>
  • Conduct supplier capability assessments and technical audits.
    <\/li>
  • Cost breakdown analysis, and negotiations.
    <\/li>
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives (VA/VE, alternate materials, localization).
    <\/li><\/ul>

    2. Product Development & Technical Support<\/b>
    <\/p>

    • Collaborate with R&D and design teams in material selection and feasibility reviews.
      <\/li>
    • Support prototype development and validation of non\-metallic parts.
      <\/li>
    • Familiar with Injection mould Tooling development and manufacturing process.
      <\/li>
    • Review drawings, specifications, and process documentation.
      <\/li>
    • Ensure compliance with technical standards requirements.
      <\/li><\/ul>

      3. Supplier Development & Performance Management<\/b>
      <\/p>

      • Develop suppliers for new technologies, materials, and processes.
        <\/li>
      • Monitor supplier KPIs (quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness).
        <\/li>
      • Lead corrective actions for quality and delivery issues.
        <\/li>
      • Implement continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers.

        4. Quality & Compliance<\/b>
        <\/p>

        • Support PPAP/APQP processes (if automotive) or equivalent validation processes.
          <\/li>
        • Participate in failure analysis and root cause investigations.
          <\/li><\/ul>

          5. Cross\-Functional Collaboration<\/b>
          <\/p>

          • Work closely with Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, R&D, and Logistics teams.

          • Support new product development.
            <\/li>
          • Provide technical input during supplier negotiations and contracts.

            • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP (if automotive).
