The Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives that optimize cost, quality, service, and supplier performance across multiple spend categories, with a primary focus on packaging, transportation, supplies, and corporate admin (including Finance.). This role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to drive value, support business objectives, and implement procurement best practices. The Procurement Manager leads complex sourcing projects, negotiates supplier agreements, identifies continuous improvement opportunities, and may oversee the development and performance of procurement team members.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
Develop and execute category strategies that align with business goals and procurement objectives.
Analyze spend data, assess business requirements, and lead competitive sourcing events, including RFPs, RFQs, and supplier evaluations.
Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, service levels, and terms to maximize value and mitigate risk.
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, process improvements, and supplier performance enhancements.
Represent the organization in supplier negotiations and strategic vendor partnerships.
Stakeholder Partnership
Build strong relationships with business leaders and cross-functional teams to understand operational needs and align sourcing strategies.
Provide procurement expertise and recommendations that support organizational priorities and long-term growth.
Influence decision-making through data-driven insights and market intelligence.
Team Leadership & Development
Coach, mentor, and develop procurement professionals to strengthen sourcing, negotiation, and project management capabilities.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Support workload prioritization, resource planning, and professional development initiatives.
Procurement Planning & Execution
Develop and maintain sourcing roadmaps that prioritize strategic initiatives and ensure timely execution of procurement commitments.
Lead complex projects from opportunity assessment through implementation and supplier transition.
Ensure adherence to procurement policies, processes, and governance standards.
Reporting & Performance Management
Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and reporting tools to measure procurement performance.
Monitor savings, supplier performance, contract compliance, and budget commitments.
Present results and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance as an essential function of the role.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field.
7+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or purchasing.
Experience managing complex sourcing projects and supplier negotiations.
Preferred: Experience supporting packaging, supplies, and/or transportation categories, including knowledge of parcel, LTL, FTL, and armored transportation services.
