Job Description

Special Procedures Technologist is responsible for providing quality diagnostic radiology images as well as providing assistance to physicians and safe operation of equipment during the performance of interventional procedures.

Department: Radiology

Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours a week required

Required: AS degree, IMEA, ARRT (R) within 1 year of hire, BLS within 90 days of hire

Pay: Based on experience, starting at $30.56/hour

Responsibilities

Applies principles of radiation protection, when appropriate, to minimize exposure to patient, self and others., Assists physician during interventional procedures. Applies appropriate aseptic surgical techniques., Evaluates images for technical quality., Maintains current knowledge of sterile supplies and techniques utilized for procedures., Prepares, operates and cares for equipment and other technical instruments used for administration of contrast agents, patient monitoring and surgical intervention by a physician., Prepares patient for procedures, provides for physical and psychological support. Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomy of area of interest. Immobilizes patient as required for appropriate examination., Provides assistance with the instruction of student technologists and/or other health care professionals., Responsible for inventory and control of specific angiography items such as, catheters, guide wires, interventional sets, etc. in the work area. May control inventory and purchases supplies for assigned area., Responsible for preparing images for interpretation and storage in the PACS system. , Selects and operates the appropriate medical imaging equipment.

Requirements

Associate's Degree (Required)ARRT - Radiography (R) - (within 1 year of hire) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), BLS or CPR certification (within 90 days of hire) - Sarah Bush Lincoln, IEMA - Illinois Emergency Management Agency - State of Illinois

Compensation

Estimated Compensation Range

$30.56 - $47.37
