Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Billing Payment Poster with a primary focus on coding to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in medical coding, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, and will play a vital role in ensuring accurate coding and billing practices.
Responsibilities:
- Keep track of payment deposits from insurance reconciling details
- Assess explanation of benefits (EOB’s) from insurance companies
- Prepare payment batches.
- Posts all assigned insurance payments and adjustments daily.
- Electronically post payments received via electronic fund transfer (EFT’s)
- Perform daily activities of posting and all zero pays.
- Post denials, payments, and adjustments according to EOB. Audit and analyze EOB to ensure accuracy of reimbursement and proper adjustments have been applied.
- Complete and maintain posting spreadsheet.
- Ensures accurate transfer of patient account balances.
- Properly communicates and documents payment denials in the billing system in a timely manner.
- Keep accurate payment records and report any discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
- Check and track all insurance portals to ensure payments and denials are posted correctly.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have 2-3 years of medical billing experience (required)
Ambulance billing experience (preferred)
Extensive Medicare and Medicaid experience and understanding medical necessity in ambulance transportation
Proficient in CPT and ICD-10 coding
Ambulance/Medical billing certification or diploma preferred
Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Analytical - collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data
