SQL DBA

Accountabilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database environments to ensure optimal availability, reliability, and performance.
- Perform routine database maintenance activities, including backups, restores, integrity checks, indexing, patching, and disaster recovery validation.
- Monitor database health, capacity, and performance while identifying and resolving incidents, bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities.
- Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies to improve overall database efficiency.
- Manage database security, user access, permissions, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Support production, development, and testing environments while coordinating database deployments and troubleshooting application-related issues.
- Maintain operational documentation, change management records, and database administration procedures.
- Participate in on-call support when required to ensure timely resolution of critical database issues.
- 4–6 years of hands-on experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator.
- Practical experience administering Microsoft SQL Server (2014/2016/2017+) along with working knowledge of Oracle Database (12c/19c).
- Strong proficiency in T-SQL, database backup and recovery processes, performance monitoring, query optimization, and index tuning.
- Familiarity with SQL Server Agent, automation processes, and Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Solid analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage database incidents effectively.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience with SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery (Always On Availability Groups or Failover Clustering), PowerShell scripting, or cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL Database or AWS RDS is considered an advantage.
- Remote working arrangement based in Chennai, India.
