Sr. Accountant
The Senior Accountant is responsible for accurate project and financial accounting, IFRS-compliant reporting, and disciplined month-end close within a live contracting environment. The role supports management reporting, cash-flow visibility, and audit readiness while ensuring strict adherence to internal controls and UAE regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review journal entries and balance-sheet reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
- Review and record revenue, IPCs, variations, and client billings in line with IFRS and contract terms.
- Execute and support month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals and reconciliations.
- Control subcontractor and supplier accounting, including advances, retentions, and settlement tracking.
- Prepare monthly project P&Ls, WIP schedules, and cost-to-complete reports with supporting analysis.
- Manage project cost accounting, budget vs actuals, margin tracking, and cost-to-complete monitoring.
- Enforce accounting controls and DoA compliance, support audit readiness at project and HQ level.
- Support project-based cash-flow forecasting and management reporting.
- Support preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities as required.
- Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and reporting automation.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in accounting for contracting companies.
- Hands-on experience with procurement cycles, subcontractors, and retentions.
- Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel for project accounting.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS (WIP, revenue recognition)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple live projects under time and cost pressure.
