Sr. Engineer - Supplier Quality

Job Overview: \nAs a Supplier Quality Engineer specializing in the mechanical domain, this role will play a crucial \nrole in ensuring the quality and reliability of mechanical components and systems sourced from external \nsuppliers. This role\u2019s primary responsibility will be to assess, monitor, and enhance the quality performance of \nsuppliers, ensuring that their products meet the required standards and specifications. The SQE will collaborate \nwith cross\-functional teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders including Sourcing, SCM & Engineering teams \nto drive continuous improvement in the supply chain, fostering a culture of quality excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supplier Assessment and Approval:
<\/div>
\nConduct thorough evaluations of potential suppliers to ensure they meet the company's \nquality standards and requirements for mechanical components.
<\/div>
\nCollaborate with Sourcing and engineering teams to establish criteria for supplier selection \nand approval. \nQuality
<\/div>

2. Planning:
<\/div>
\nDevelop and implement quality plans for mechanical components, outlining inspection \ncriteria, testing procedures, and quality control measures.
<\/div>
\nCollaborate with suppliers to establish mutually agreed\-upon quality standards and \nperformance metrics.
<\/div>

3. Supplier Audits and Assessments:
<\/div>
\nConduct regular on\-site and remote audits of supplier facilities to assess their quality \nmanagement systems and production processes.
<\/div>
\nIdentify areas of improvement and work with suppliers to implement corrective and \npreventive actions.
<\/div>

<\/div>
4. Quality Control and Inspection:
<\/div>
\nEstablish inspection protocols and standards for incoming mechanical components.
<\/div>
\nCoordinate with suppliers to address and resolve quality issues promptly, including root \ncause analysis and corrective actions.
<\/div>

<\/div>
5. Continuous Improvement:
<\/div>
\nWork collaboratively with suppliers to identify opportunities for process improvement and \ncost reduction.
<\/div>
\nImplement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall supplier \nquality performance.
<\/div>

<\/div>
6. Collaboration and Communication:
<\/div>
\nFoster strong relationships with cross\-functional teams, including Sourcing, SCM, \nengineering, and production, to align on quality expectations.
<\/div>
\nCommunicate effectively with suppliers to convey quality standards, specifications, and \nimprovement plans.
<\/div>

7. Risk Management:
<\/div>
\nIdentify potential risks in the supply chain related to mechanical components and develop \nstrategies to mitigate these risks.
<\/div>
\nCollaborate with suppliers to establish contingency plans for unexpected quality issues.
<\/div>

<\/div>
8. Documentation and Reporting:
<\/div>
\nMaintain accurate and up\-to\-date records of supplier quality performance, audits, and \ninspections.
<\/div>
\nGenerate regular reports on supplier quality metrics and key performance indicators.
<\/div>
\nKeep a track of day to day supplier quality issues, actions and closure status
<\/div>
\nManage supplier rejections / MRB / Blocked stock along with SCM teams for closure.
<\/div><\/span>

Requirements<\/h3>
Qualifications:
<\/div>
 Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
<\/div>
 Proven experience in supplier quality engineering, particularly in the mechanical domain.
<\/div>
\nStrong understanding of mechanical components, manufacturing processes, and quality control \nmethodologies, mechanical special processes & control mechanisms
<\/div>
\nKnowledge of relevant industry standards (AS9100), Aerospace & Defense customer standards / \nrequirements and regulations.
<\/div>
\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.
<\/div>
\nProblem\-solving and root cause analysis & 8D expertise.
<\/div>
\nFAI process as per AS9102 requirements
<\/div>
 \nWorking experience in Electronics Manufacturing industry (EMS) will be an added advantage.
<\/div>
\nAbility to travel for on\-site supplier visits as needed.
<\/div>

<\/div>
Other Skills Preferred:
<\/div>
\nCertification in quality management (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, CpK studies, SPC & MSA, Internal auditor).
<\/div>
\nFamiliarity with ERP (SAP) systems and quality management software.
<\/div>
\nUnderstanding of both metal & plastic parts manufacturing processes
<\/div>
 \nCoordinating with IQC team
<\/div>
\nKnowledge of different types of mechanical materials and finishes
<\/div><\/span>
