Job Description \u2013 Material Planner <\/span>
<\/h1>Position Summary<\/span>
<\/h2>The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material availability to support production schedules while optimizing inventory levels. This role involves demand analysis, material requirement planning (MRP), inventory management, excess and obsolete inventory control, and cross\-functional coordination with procurement, production, program management, and customers.<\/span>
<\/p>Key Responsibilities<\/span>
<\/h2>Material Planning & Inventory Management<\/span>
<\/h3>- Conduct daily reviews with the Purchasing team to ensure Clear\-to\-Build (CTB) status aligns with customer commitments and demand requirements.<\/span>
<\/li>- Run and manage Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes to ensure timely procurement of materials.<\/span>
<\/li>- Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal stock to prevent shortages and excess inventory.<\/span>
<\/li>- Release and close work orders according to the approved production plan.<\/span>
<\/li>- Track material availability and ensure on\-time support for manufacturing operations.<\/span>
<\/li><\/ul>Demand Planning & Forecasting<\/span>
<\/h3>- Analyze customer demand and forecast material requirements based on lead times and supply constraints.<\/span>
<\/li>- Provide updates to Program Managers (PMs) regarding material availability and Customer Material Lead Time (CMLT) to support demand loading and customer commitments.<\/span>
<\/li>- Conduct regular forecasting analysis using historical data and market trends to improve forecast accuracy.<\/span>
<\/li>- Identify potential material shortages and implement corrective actions proactively.<\/span>
<\/li><\/ul>Excess & Obsolete (E&O) Inventory Management<\/span>
<\/h3>- Prepare and analyze Excess and Obsolete (E&O) inventory reports.<\/span>
<\/li>- Coordinate with Program Managers and customers regarding E&O claims and recovery actions.<\/span>
<\/li>- Monitor inventory aging and drive initiatives to reduce excess and obsolete materials.<\/span>
<\/li><\/ul>Engineering Change Management<\/span>
<\/h3>- Participate in Engineering Change Notice (ECN) meetings.<\/span>
<\/li>- Assess and communicate obsolete material exposure resulting from engineering changes.<\/span>
<\/li>- Coordinate with Program Managers and customers for material claim processes.<\/span>
<\/li>- Ensure Bill of Materials (BOM) updates are accurately reflected in ERP systems.<\/span>
<\/li><\/ul>Cross\-Functional Coordination<\/span>
<\/h3>- Collaborate closely with Procurement, Production Planning, Logistics, and Demand Planning teams.<\/span>
<\/li>- Align production schedules with material availability and demand forecasts.<\/span>
<\/li>- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory management and supply chain efficiency.<\/span>
<\/li><\/ul>Reporting & Analytics<\/span>
<\/h3>- Generate regular reports on inventory status, order tracking, material performance, and planning metrics.<\/span>
<\/li>- Utilize data analysis tools to evaluate inventory performance and support data\-driven decision\-making.<\/span>
<\/li>- Present planning insights and recommendations to management.<\/span>
<\/li><\/ul>Required Qualifications<\/span>
<\/h2>- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.<\/span>
<\/li>- Experience in Material Planning, Inventory Management, Production Planning, or Supply Chain Operations.<\/span>
<\/li>- Strong understanding of MRP, inventory control, demand forecasting, and supply planning processes.<\/span>
<\/li>- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.<\/span>
<\/li>- Strong analytical, problem\-solving, and communication skills.<\/span>
<\/li><\/ul>Preferred Qualifications<\/span>
<\/h2>- Experience with SAP ERP systems.<\/span>
<\/li>- Knowledge of Kinaxis RapidResponse.<\/span>
<\/li>- Familiarity with manufacturing and electronics supply chain environments.<\/span>
