Required Experience:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college, supplemented by a J.D. or L.L.B Degree. Must be a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association. Applicant must demonstrate that they meet the requirements of Rhode Island Family Court Domestic Mediation certification or its equivalent. Applicant should demonstrate additional training in domestic violence, child development, equitable distribution, child custody, child support and visitation issues.

Duties/Job Responsibilities
The CASA Staff Attorney provides Guardian Ad Litem services to children who come before the Family Court as a result of the filing of a dependency/neglect/abuse and termination of parental rights petition; appears in all court proceedings relative to said petitions including the filing of motions, issuance of subpoenas, and the examination of witnesses. Is responsible for the submission of recommendations to the court relative to the best interests of the ward; provides legal representation and counsel to the volunteer court-appointed special advocates; and may be asked to perform duties as may be assigned by the Family Court Chief Judge and/or Chief of Staff.
