Staff Engineer, Solutions Test - Cloud

This position is based in Nanjing, China.

We are seeking a staff engineer - solutions test based in Nanjing, China. Our team validates Calix Marketing Cloud which is an AWS/GCP based big data system. The successful candidate will contribute to test and validate Calix Marketing Cloud products as well as some AWS/GCP infrastructure test.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work on the solution-oriented testing against Calix Cloud products, including Marketing Cloud and Operations Cloud.

  • Author test plans, develop persona-based test cases; set up solutions test bed, execute test cases, report test results, and be in charge of documentation.

  • Augment and enhance test cases to closely reflect customers’ network deployment and operations.

  • Identify and report software issues, track the progress of bug tickets.

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs.

  • Reproduce onsite issues and assist development teams to diagnose the issues.

  • Demonstrate new features and products to cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Communication Engineering, or similar.

  • 12+ years’ experience in software test environment, and strong test theory knowledge.

  • Experience in cloud-based big data projects (preferably in either AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Working experience with the cloud-based data warehouse like (Greenplum, RedShift, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, etc.).

  • Experience in two of these domains:

  • Data analysis products, BI systems, or data mining products.
  • AWS/GCP-based DevOps, test, and solution design.
  • Cloud-Native product testing, and good troubleshooting/debugging skills through Cloud API and Linux tools, such as ELK stack tools, front-end tools (fiddler, Charles...)

  • Telecommunications OSS (Operations Support System) or network element management system test experience.

  • Working knowledge of Data Lake technologies, data storage formats (Parquet, ORC, Avro) and query engines (Athena, Presto, Dremio) and associated concepts for building optimized solutions at scale.

  • Experience in data streaming and event-based data solutions (Kafka, Kinesis, or like).

  • Experience building data pipelines (Flink, Spark or like).

  • Ability to analytically break down complex problems and articulate defects with details.

  • Strong verbal and written English skills.

  • Self-motivated, process oriented, and detail oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in coding with scripting and programming languages, including Bash, Python, GoLang, while having the ability of selecting the proper language as tool to solve a certain problem.

  • Strong knowledge of smart home deployment and user cases.

  • Solid understanding of system architecture and large-scale service or computational platform operations

  • Machine Learning experience is a strong plus

  • Pre-sales experiences to some extent.

  • Experience in building pipelines to ingest terabytes of data spanning billions of rows.

  • Hands-on experience with test instruments or tools: Spirent Testcenter/Ixia Network.
