Position Overview

TheStatePolicySeniorAssociatewillprincipallysupportClean Tomorrow's on-the-ground state engagement work,developingand implementingstakeholder engagement strategiestotranslateClean Tomorrow's existing policyexpertiseinto state-level action.Initiallythis role willsupportClean Tomorrow’s Siting Solutions Project,which works todiagnose anddevelopstatesitingandpermittingpolicysolutionsto improve the pace and scale of clean energy deployment.The ideal candidate can read a state's political and stakeholder landscape,engagecoalitions that extend beyond traditional clean energyand climateconstituencies,provideaccurateand succinctreviewsof legislative proposals,and rapidly produce clear, audience-appropriate materials for state policymakers and advocates. This role willreportto the Senior Director of Policy.

Clean Tomorrow works to catalyze rapid change that will accelerate the innovation and growth of clean energy by conducting original research and engaging with partner organizations toidentifyopportunities for changes in policy that are actionable in five years or fewer. Clean Tomorrow’s strictly non-partisan stance places policy over ideology; Clean Tomorrow will form the diverse coalitions necessary to advance policies that truly reduce emissions and confront the urgency of climate change.

Key Responsibilities

State Political & Advocacy Strategy (60%)

  • Assess the political and stakeholder landscape in target states and develop engagement strategies tailored to each
  • Identifyand cultivate relationships with constituencieswithin andoutside the traditional environmentaland climateadvocacy communities
  • Advise on state-specific opportunities and barriers to advancing clean energy siting reform
  • Monitor legislative developments and political dynamics across target states

Coalition Engagement & Public Affairs (20%)

  • Coordinate andfacilitatestakeholder convenings, forums, and roundtables supportingtheSitingSolutionsProject
  • Build andmaintainstakeholder relationships in support of clean energy siting reform
  • Tailor Clean Tomorrow's existing research and policy materials forin-state audiences
  • Rapidly produce policy briefs, one-pagers, and other educational materials for non-technical audiences

Program & Grants Support (20%)

  • Support grant reporting and documentation for state engagement activities
  • Track project deliverables and ensure deadlines are met

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in state-level political, public affairs, or advocacy work
  • Demonstrated ability to build and managestakeholder relationshipsin complex political environments
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise policy communications quickly
  • Experience working across multiple states preferred; familiarity with energy or infrastructure policypreferred
  • Advanced degree in relevant field preferredbut notrequired(e.g., Public Policy, Political Science, Public Administration)

  • Full-time, regular position
  • Occasional travel (5-15% of time)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $95,000- $125,000,commensuratewith experience and qualifications
