Position Summary
As an STC Cabin Design Engineer(Contract), you will be the technical drumbeat of our Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) cabin upgrade projects. In this role, you are fully accountable for the cabin architecture, engineering deliverables, and the management of cabin equipment development. You will bridge the gap between technical complexity and real-world execution, ensuring our airline customers receive world-class, certified modification solutions for their fleets.

Your working environment:
The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe.
Your challenges:
You will orchestrate all engineering activities linked to a cabin modification project from inception to delivery—monitoring schedule, cost, and risk.
Offer Phase: Partner with Sales to assess technical feasibility, define the scope of work, establish engineering assumptions, and estimate lead times/costs.
Architecture Phase: Lead Pre-Modification (Premod) analysis, manage configuration control, determine aircraft impacts, and draft Technical Requirement Specifications (TRS) and Long Lead Time Items (LLTI) lists.
Development Phase: Supervise 3D/2D pre-studies, 3D model integration, clash analysis, and the production of Cabin Definition/Installation drawings. Support Weight & Balance (W&B) calculations, Service Bulletin (SB) redacts, and Ground/Flight Test Plans (GTP/FTP).
Supplier Governance: Act as the technical point of contact for suppliers during critical milestones (ITCM, PDR, CDR, FPDR, and FAI).
On-Aircraft Working Party & In-Service Support: Provide on-site engineering support during aircraft embodiment and assist airline operators with post-delivery in-service queries.
Ensure all cabin modifications strictly comply with Airbus engineering standards, aviation regulations, and safety requirements.
Perform all design and justification activities in accordance with Airbus approved processes, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
Deliver engineering packages within agreed-upon budgets and timelines.
Identify opportunities to simplify engineering workflows, tools, and processes.
Actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by bringing lessons learned from completed retrofit projects back to the global team
Your boarding Pass:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil, or Electrical).
Minimum of 6 years of experience in the aviation industry, with a heavy focus on aircraft cabin engineering, development processes, and design/certification paths.
Authorized to Work in the US
Experience in aircraft modifications and upgrades.
Experience in cabin design / cabin equipment / cabin integration.
Advance knowledge of configuration management.
CATIA V5 experience.
Proven high motivation and flexibility to work in a highly demanding environment.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in a collaborative team environment with a diverse international workforce.
Ability to build and maintain an internal network with colleagues globally.
Airbus aircraft general knowledge.
Knowledge of EASA Part 21 (DOA / POA), Part 145 and CS25 regulations requirements.
Knowledge of Airbus tools: Airn@V, Tasky, PASS SSI, ICC, Zamiz
Knowledge of mechanical systems ATA21/35/38/92 and associated installation related to aircraft cabin.
Delegated signatory for ATA25 within Airbus DOA.
Good communication, team work, synthetic mindset and assertiveness
Good coordination and relationship skills to work with team members, customers, partners, and other Airbus departments
Good presentation and communication skills, as well as being able to do so effectively to the management team
In depth understanding of the cabin / cabin systems retrofit process.
Supports the projects from technical proposal to after return into service.

Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Daily
Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Daily
Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. At Least Once a Month
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Daily
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. Daily
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Daily
Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. Daily
Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Rarely
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily
