The Sterile Processing Vendor Management Specialist is responsible for managing vendors and ensuring the proper sterilization of medical equipment and instruments. The roles establishes and maintains relationships with vendors, negotiates contracts, and oversees the procurement and delivery of sterilization equipment and supplies. This position supports the implementation of decontamination procedures and collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with policies and guidelines. Working under general supervision, this role promptly reports any sterilization malfunctions or equipment issues and coordinates with vendors to resolve problems.


Essential Job Function:

  • Manages vendor relationships and ensures the procurement of sterilization equipment and supplies in a timely manner to support safe patient care.
  • Collaborates with vendors to negotiate contracts and ensure the delivery of high-quality sterilization equipment and supplies.
  • Oversees the inspection and assembly of instruments, ensuring compliance with sterilization requirements and patient safety standards.
  • Identifies and reports any defective, broken, or missing components of instruments to vendors for resolution.
  • Promptly reports any positive results or sterilization malfunctions to appropriate leadership, facilitating timely resolution and maintaining patient safety.
  • Implements standard precautions and hazardous waste policies when handling contaminated items or instruments.
  • Manages the return and restocking of unused sterile instruments to their appropriate location, ensuring efficient inventory management.
  • Performs other duties as reasonably required or assigned to support the smooth operation of the sterile processing department and vendor management processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.


Experience:

  • Required: 1-2 Years of experience.


Licensure/Certification/Listing:

  • Required: Will accept any one of the following credentials upon hire (must be maintained without a lapse in time): Certified Central Sterile Technician (CRCST), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT).
